Pogue was trying to keep up a relaxed vibe. His voice was doing a good job of exactly that- no tell tale signs of distress or discomfort. Keeping his posture doing the same was much harder. He felt tense, his muscles rigid as if afraid. His parents were good people, overall. He shouldn't be so worried about talking about them. But he also knew that there were things about them that were… less great. Like the way his father hit him when he was pissed off. Or the times he'd called his son a "fag" for even the smallest things. Keeping his hair long had been his one, major, defiance and while his father threatened to cut it off in his sleep, his mother stood by him on it ("It's the trend now. Besides, his hair frames his face nicely." His mother had said. Only for his father to reply with a rant about emasculation and "effeminate" men like the way other people chose to live their lives was a blight on his otherwise perfect little world).
But they didn't need to know any of that. Even Jayn didn't need to know any of that. It was just how his parents were. He could live with it. He had for this long, after all.
"It was nice talking to the both of you, too," Pogue replied politely. He had a feeling the conversation had gone well. That was good- he wanted them to like him.
Soon, the goodbyes were said and he felt a weight lift off of his shoulders. He'd survived it and he'd only had to give the most basic of information about his parents. Good.
Pogue chuckled when Jayn pressed her face to his stomach and screamed. She must have been holding that in for a while. "Your parents sound great. I'd love to get to meet them some day," He said honestly. A real conversation, maybe dinner. The only thing that worried him was, again, the topic of his family. But he was particularly good at steering conversation away from himself by now. It was always easier to do in person, too.
Though Jayn seemed to have realized something was wrong because, while Pogue had thought the worst of it was over, his girlfriend asked a question that hit him so hard he felt like he'd been punched in the stomach.
Again, he tensed up a bit, though he tried to let it slip from him quick enough that hopefully she wouldn't notice.
"It's nothing, baby," He assured her, leaning down to press a kiss to her forehead. "They're just boring and my dad works a lot." Both of which were true, but neither of which were the truth she was seeking.
Luckily for Pogue, before anything more could be asked of him, Tyler and Aaron were coming their way. Haunted House over. Judging by the laughter and their need to catch their breath, either they'd had fun or they'd snuck off and had sex. He assumed the prior was correct, though the latter was far more amusing.
The last leg of the haunted house had included portraits with moving eyes and, eventually, “ghosts” (holographic projections of some sort) that had swooped down at them, cackling and disorienting against the dark backdrop of the room. The Devil himself had appeared in the final moments to welcome them into the hellish “fires” (accompanied by an uncomfortable heat) that danced against the wall, a gaping door into the unknown and then… they were free. Tyler thought it fitting considering how much of a hell the actual world could be anyway, but he wasn’t here to try to analyze a haunted house on Halloween. He was just glad he was back in the light. Or, as much light as there was considering the evening had started to settle in.
"Welcome back to the world of the living. We could hear your screaming all the way out here, ya big babies," Pogue teased good naturedly, and Tyler reached out to playfully punch him in the shoulder.
"It was pretty great," Ty answered. He wrapped an arm around Aaron and leaned into his boyfriend a bit. "Not as good as the one Junior year of high school, though. I swear I almost pissed myself when that guy lunged out at us that year. Remember that? If he'd been any closer, I think Reid would have actually punched him," He recalled, laughing at the memory.
Gore didn't bother Cassia much. Neither did the scarier parts of the haunted house- people jumping out at them or grabbing for them. Low lights. Cracks of thunder. Loud noises. Cass was able to keep a level head about it all, remember it was all in good fun, nothing to actually be scared of. Each scream or shout of fear from her was quickly replaced with a small bout of laughter at her own reactions. She was having fun, without a doubt. And by the time they reached the narrow hallway, she was overcome with a sense of thrill that led her to be prepared to take the lead even before Caleb had offered it to her.
The dim lighting and the adrenaline had both been doing a good job of keeping her mind occupied enough that she hadn't yet noticed just how anxious Caleb was. It wasn't until he spoke that she caught on to that edge in his voice, that slight breathlessness.
She wasn’t sure what was wrong, but he was clearly feeling uneasy. Had something scared him? Well, it was a haunted house and the point was to be scared of course, but… had something actually, truly, unnerved him?
She wanted to ask, to make sure he was okay, but she also didn't want to question it or say anything that might make him more uncomfortable. Clearly he was trying to keep his discomfort hidden. So she kept the realization to herself for now and, instead, made a mental note to keep the lead so she could assure he wasn't getting the brunt of whatever was to come.
She also may have… used the smallest bit of her powers on him in the moment before they slipped through the narrow passage. She kissed his cheek and used the moment to offer him a bit of silent reassurance with her powers to soothe his anxieties. Not enough that he'd suddenly feel fine, but hopefully enough to take the edge off. Her father had, for a long time, told her that it wasn't okay to manipulate emotions with her powers- just because she could didn't mean she should. But small things like this couldn't cause any harm, right? And the contact of her lips to his skin was the perfect catalyst for it. Usually she was subtle enough that people didn’t even question why they suddenly felt just a bit less unsteady. She assumed it would be the same with Caleb. After all, emotions come and go. They settle down or rise back up. It wouldn’t be a far stretch to think that the little kiss of reassurance that she’d given him was enough to put him a bit more at ease.
Or… so she hoped.
Hoping that he felt just a bit better now, she took the lead as he’d suggested. Careful footsteps, glancing back from time to time to try to see him despite the knowledge that it was too dark to catch a glimpse at him. And then she stepped out into more dim lighting, an eerie, moonlit glow settled over the “greenhouse” they were now in.
It took Cassia only a few seconds to realize what was going on in this room- Zombies.
Of course the realization came when the dead body on the ground suddenly grabbed for her ankle and she screamed, reeled back, and bumped right into Caleb. Zombies didn’t freak her out, actually, but that guy had been made to look like he was literally cut in half! She hadn’t expected him to suddenly come alive! That had actually, sincerely, scared the hell out of her. Even so, she found that small bit of laughter bubbling up again, especially now that she had her back pressed to Caleb and could feel the warmth and safety of him right there against her.
“C’mon! This way!” She told him, pointing towards the obvious exit on the other side of the room. It took them a minute to maneuver past the zombified actors, growling and snarling and making their way in a slow, ominous, gait towards them. But they finally made it, Caleb’s hand securely back in her own, and they passed into the next room.
An art gallery.
Admittedly, Cassia was super impressed. The paintings and sculptures were really well done. The art department for this haunted house had really gone all out! She wished she could have taken pictures to show to Jayn- she thought the other girl would have appreciated how lovely these works were, even if they were meant to look sort of faded and cobwebbed and… was the guy in that painting looking directly at her? And, oh shit! Did that statue just move?!
A (fake) sword was brought down close to Caleb and Cassia was quick to tug him out of the way (even though, realistically, the actor was going to miss on purpose, anyway). Then the ghosts began to flicker out of the artwork, swooping at them as they moaned or cackled or even screamed.
How freaking cool was that?! She’d been to her share of haunted houses, but the effects they were using in this one were killer!
Finally, they slipped from the art gallery into a dark room with a warm, reddish, glow and an exit that looked like you were walking straight through fire. The Devil greeted them and Cass stopped walking entirely. She had a feeling this was the end of the haunted house, the scariest parts done but a final message, of sorts, being offered. The “Devil”’s fully black eyes and that pointy-toothed grin were, quite honestly, unsettling. Something about it didn’t sit right with her, but she couldn’t explain it. She tucked herself against Caleb’s side and, gently coaxing him in a wide berth around the actor, then they walked through the “flames” into a dark void that, soon, led them right outside.
She blinked against the brighter light of being back outdoors, and felt that discomfort of the last few moments finally dissipate. She looked to Caleb, smiled wide, then finally leaned up to steal a kiss. “We’re definitely doing that again next year!” The unintentional implication that they’d still be together this time next year. They hadn’t been together for long yet, but, even so, she really did hope that they’d still be together next year. Maybe longer, even. But she didn’t have time to find a way to take it back or apologize or anything before she heard a shout of Caleb’s name.
“Caleb! Cass! Over here!” She looked towards the voice and caught Pogue waving them over with a big smile on his face.
“We shouldn’t keep them waiting,” She said, then, just because she still felt a bit buzzed from the adrenaline, she kissed Caleb once more before leading him towards the others.
Now it was just a matter of waiting for Reid to show up before they could move on.
So far, so good. Jayn was, for the moment, a nervous wreck. She was listening to Pogue, obviously, but she was also weighing each sentence against what she knew her parents were each thinking. As his girlfriend, she hoped to all the gods who were out there that her parents were fine with his reply. As his friend, she was curious to see what he said, just because he hadn't really talked about his parents around her before. She doubted that they were racist because he'd dated Kate for as long as he had...but that was all she knew.
Okay...a stay-at-home mom who liked interior design, and a dad who owned a profitable construction company...that didn't sound bad. Jayn didn't think her parents would have a problem with any of that. Then why was she getting weird vibes? She racked her brain, wondering what terrible secrets his parents could be hiding. Obviously, there was the witch thing, but that wasn't really "bad"--plus, she and her parents already knew about that. Jayn wondered and wondered until she was nudged out of her thoughts by the little kiss Pogue sat on top of her head. It was basically a reflex, the way she leaned into it and then into his side.
"Well, it sounds like they both like what they do. That's important, especially when you get to our age," Jayn's mom said, and the smile she had was perfectly audible. Her kid breathed a quiet sigh of relief. "Alright, I know my daughter's probably wondering when we'll let you go since she loves Halloween so much...it was nice to talk to you, Pogue."
"Use a webcam next time! I want to see who my little girl's running around with," Mr. Hardy added, though he was clearly in a good mood, too. Jayn was unamused. "Alright, goodnight."
"Night, Dad. Night, Mom. Love you." And then the call was finally over. Jayn put her phone away, pressed her face into her boyfriend's stomach, and let out a weak scream, ever the dramatic. "...thanks for...not thinking they're weird," she muttered, looking up at him. She sort of wanted to ask when she was going to meet his parents, but she worried if it was too soon. There was a difference between him talking to her parents for a few minutes, and her going over to have dinner with the Parrys. And what if his parents didn't like her for some reason? How much did they even know about--
That was how she figured out why the topic of his parents seemed strange. She knew that Reid's mom doted on his two younger sisters, who annoyed him even though he was always making himself available for rom-coms and dating advice. She knew that Ty's family was Jewish and that his dad was the cook while his mom was the baker. She knew a decent amount about Caleb's family because she lived with them. But she didn't know anything about Pogue's parents (besides their careers) because he never brought them up. Jayn bit her lip, worried.
"Pogue? What aren't you telling me about them?" A tiny part of her brain whispered that they were serial killers. Hopefully, that was the dumb part.
Caleb was usually more into mysteries and historical fiction than anything else, especially when the two genres were combined (The Three Musketeers and anything involving Sherlock Holmes were his favorites). Books focusing on romance and intense worldbuilding didn't do it for him. But since he'd found out that his crush, his girlfriend, was the daughter of an urban fantasy author, he decided to try something different. He'd started reading Mr. Keller's novels a couple of weeks after the girls had met him and the others at Nicky's when the book club had been formed. He had only just finished the first book in the series, so he was in no shape to join Cassia, Jayn, Reid, and Ty's meetings...but that didn't mean he couldn't learn a little about the latest addition to the magical story. He was horribly curious that way, wanting to hear as much as he could until there were spoilers.
Thankfully, his curiosity was shushed and nudged to the side when the haunted house became his main focus. He followed Cassia's lead toward the next exit and...ugh. Gore didn't freak him out as much as it disgusted him (there was one of the two reasons why he'd chosen law over medicine). His eyes went straight from the macabre "corpses" that decorated the room, to the walls, so he could look for the exit. Just as he thought he spotted a way out, an actor lunged at him and Cassia, startling him so badly that his doubled portion of the Power reared its ugly head. If he'd been in a room with better lighting, his black sclera would've stood out and scared the shit out of Cass. Thankfully, he reigned in his magic before it could do anything more than make the dim lightbulbs flicker. He managed to tug his girlfriend in the right direction, through some fake cobwebs and past some thunder-and-lightning SFX that poked at his already-shaky skeleton.
Caleb was starting to feel lightheaded. The logical part of his brain, which was buried underneath the worries about that case study he had due in a week, told him that he should probably breathe, as opposed to...well, not breathing. He tried to catch his breath as quietly as possible, not wanting to upset Cassia. After all, she couldn't help him not have anxiety issues. She couldn't erase Chase from his mind any more than she could take the stress out of his brain cells. So he just clenched his jaw and kept going, like he always did, until he realized that the passageway was forcing them into a single-file line. Even if he'd been ten years younger, he wouldn't be able to keep Cass by his side as they moved on to the next room.
"After you," he managed, hoping that she didn't hear how shallowly he was breathing. He would've gone first, but he was busy trying to get himself together. They'd all been having so much fun with the games and conversations...Caleb hadn't even considered how much the haunted house would really affect him. He only ever felt as fragile as he did after he'd had a nightmare, or when his course load was getting to him because he forgot to take his medication.
It was amazing how something as simple as a kiss from his boyfriend could make Aaron feel tough. Then again, he'd stopped having problems with his confidence not long after he had come out. Whatever was going on inside him, Aaron was enjoying his Halloween date with Tyler...even if he kept squealing like a kid every time a fake zombie jumped out from the shadows. And when the actor grabbed his ankle, he let out more than just a squeal.
"SHIIIIT!" he screamed, literally jumping back into Tyler's arms. He blinked, realizing how close Tyler's face was to his, and snogged him properly before he looked for the next exit. "Over here!" He led the way through the creepy greenhouse, and out into some kind of ancient art gallery. There were the paintings you'd see in Scooby Doo, with the eyes that moved if you looked closely, and then there were worn-down statues going all down the hall. At least one was bound to be an actor in cracked grey makeup, so Aaron braced himself as he kept moving forward.
Reid was excited and had a little grin to prove it. Whoever was in charge of the haunted house did a great job, as far as he was concerned. He could see the story behind it all: zombies, or some kind of menacing creature, had rampaged through some rich family's house, and he was the nosy person who decided to check out the crime scene. Cool!
"Reid? Damn, is that you?" He paused, as did the "bloody" guy who was supposed to be scaring him. They looked each other over, then chuckled in recognition.
"Hey, Mar." Marley was Reid (and sometimes Tyler)'s very reliable weed guy, not to mention a former classmate with a penchant for collecting cool seashells and shiny rocks. "Didn't think I'd see you in here..."
"Yeah, well, it's a side gig. Pays kinda nice. Awesome costume, by the way. Wouldn't know it was you besides the blond hair." Reid grinned and bowed dramatically, which made his friend laugh a little. "Alright. Get goin' before I lose my job bein' nice to the customers." The mighty Mothman wished the guy a happy Halloween before he continued on his way. And of course, he was still losing candy as it trickled out of his bag.
#reply:cassia#dhampiravidi#((Omg wait- imagine Cass's dad's newest book (the one he's still finishing up that isn't published yet)#being eerily similar to some of what ends up going on later with Chase and such! Obviously not the same but CLOSE ENOUGH xD#As for the haunted house- I figured it was probably about time to move on- I'd kinda planned on wrapping it up this reply anyway :)#So on to other things! Though the haunted house WAS fun <3#More candy. Corn maze. Mmm... I think that's about it! And as for Cass's dad- maybe he's decided to come join the fun too and maybe he's#even on a date of his own! Anyway- Mr. Keller all dressed up as a zombie and they don't even realize it's him at first xD#I'm really excited for their little sleepover ;u; <3#As for the nightmare- I think we decided on Caleb first then Pogue later- the night after his birthday party?))#((Also- Tyler and Reid getting high together and inviting Aaron to join them. I just think it'd be cute xD))#((Also also- Reid baking two batches of brownies (ones with weed and ones without) because he has book club with Cass and Jayn and Tyler#(which he baked regular brownies for because it was his turn to bring a snack)#and also another thing to go to later that day (which he baked the weed brownies for)#and him getting them mixed up and suddenly their whole little book club is high xD#(Pogue like ''Why wasn't I invited to this?!'' xD)#Also- Caleb realizing something's up because he knows they're at their book club#but Cass is texting him like ''Hiiiiiii~ You're so cute do you know that?'' and ''You're literally my favorite person in the whole world.''#but also ''If we colonize Mars in my life time I'm just gonna do it. I'm gonna move to Mars. I'll be texting you from MARS.''#then sending him a stupid joke that Tyler just said that made her laugh for way too long#but she's laughing while typing it out so there's so many typos it's hardly legible xD#Cue Den Mom Caleb having to come check on them because what the hell is going on? xD & Pogue tagging along because he's also gotten some#weird texts and now he's curious too xD))#((Lastly- I just wanted to give Cass a chance to use her powers a little. Totally up to you if Caleb realizes something's messing with him#or not! She's still under the impression he's just a normal guy so she hasn't even considered that he might realize#someone is using their powers on him 😅))

“You’re joking, right?” Wanda asked as I sipped my whiskey.
“Oh, fuck no. I’m just going to prove them wrong.” I replied. She shifted in her seat, shaking her head in disbelief as she took a sip of her wine.
A loud thunk had me glancing back over at the boys. Sam, Bucky, Steve, Thor, Tony, and somehow Bruce had decided on a game of throwing darts…or in the case of the two supersoldiers and god, throwing knives.
I was called a deadeye for a reason. My entire youth was spent as being as ‘rebellious’ as possible, which bled into my adulthood. I finished my drink and stood up. Thankfully the bartender poured me another, and I grabbed it. Sending a wink to the red head, I walked over to them.
They were laughing at something, but paused and turned their attention to me when I was close enough.
“Can we help you?” Tony’s snarky remark had me smirking at him. I casually gestured with my fingers on my drink.
“You’re throwing them wrong.” I told him.
He, along with a few others started laughing. “So? Not like you can throw any better.” He replied.
At that, I grinned. I set my drink down on the discarded pool table and slid my jacket off. As I walked towards the wall, I pulled my hair up into a ponytail. You’ll see.
Tugging the knives from the wall, I twirled each in my hands, feeling the smoothness of the blades. Finally pulling out all five from their scattered places on the spray-painted bullseye, I headed back to where the line was.
Chuckles and remarks were still tossed around all except the two supersoldiers. Both Steve and Bucky were leaning against the pool table, the former with his arms crossed and the latter holding a relaxed stance. I sent them a cheeky wink as I took my stance. I held the other knives in my other hand as I cocked my arm back, ready to throw.
Thunk. Bullseye.
Thunk. Bullseye.
Thunk. Just outside of it, barely.
Thunk. Dead-Center.
Thunk. This knife ended up being embedded in the hilt of the last one I threw.
I dropped my arm down and was met with silence. I turned around, gesturing for the soldiers to move out of the way as I grabbed my drink. Tony started sputtering off about how there was no way I just did that, and started his nonsense again. Steve ended up walking off at some point, and Barnes and I just stood besides each other in silence, sipping our drinks.
Barnes and I had a...tense relationship. I wasn’t around the tower much due to preference and constantly being in the field, but I was just as much of a part of the team as anyone else. We sparred whenever I was there, and for some reason we both fucking hated each other. Rather, in my opinion it wasn’t exactly hatred, rather tension. Sexual tension.
It was fucking stupid how we haven’t fucked yet, but still. Both of the red heads kept trying to push us together. Whether a stupid game of spin the bottle or seven minutes in heaven, almost everyone saw the tension and tried to get rid of it. I swear, sometimes if we so much as looked at each other, the tension became thick enough to cut with a knife.
“I didn’t know you could throw like that.” He suddenly said, resting his drink on the table. I hummed and did the same, turning towards him.
“I’ve been able to do that since I was a teenager.” I replied as casually as the look in the man’s eye would let me.
He nodded, taking a moment to glance down my body. I did the same, and when we made eye contact again I smirked. I grabbed my jacket and pulled it on and finished my drink. Running my tongue over the last few drops of the liquor, well aware of the man watching me. I headed to the bar and deposited the glass on the table and tossed a twenty down. I was about to head outside when he caught up to me.
He had pulled on his jacket and was walking next to me as I headed to the entrance. Hell, he even opened the door for me. I went outside, walking past the windows of the bar and glancing at the bar’s name, No Angels. It was a pretty decent bar, given the fact that we could throw knives in it.
I turned the corner, the man still hot on my heels and went down the small dark alleyway. I had many, many hookups here. Some were good, some were bad, but they all didn’t fulfill the desire for him. Not even halfway down the alley I was slammed against a wall, lips crushing mine.
Fucking finally. I thought as a hand immediately threaded through his hair, tugging on it. The other was on his chest, and soon his lower stomach. Fuck, this felt good. Teeth and tongue and the taste of bourbon had me craving more of him. I pressed myself farther into him, and he replied by gripping the back of my thighs, forcing my legs around his waist. I could feel his erection already, hard and warm against me.
He placed kisses along my jaw and moved to my neck, sucking and nipping the sensitive flesh. Small gasps left me as he bit on my collarbone.
I growled as he kept nipping my neck. I needed him. As much as this felt really fucking good, I needed him.
“Barnes.” I half-whispered, half growled. The man’s mouth went back to mine.
“Yes?” He questioned, eyes focusing on mine.
“Fuck me.” I whispered. My eyes were half-lidded and I could feel my dampness soaking through my underwear already. He grinned and kissed and ducked his head to my neck, leaving another mark. Still pressing my back firmly against the wall, he moved his hands to the waist of my jeans. Undoing the belt and tugging them down, he slipped a pant leg off and pressed against me again. The friction of my bareness against his jeans made me moan, and him grin.
His hand trailed down and found me soaking. “Fuck, (Y/N).” He husked out as he slid his fingers through my dripping slit. A hum turned into a moan as he found my clit, making small circles on it with the pad of his thumb.
He kissed my neck, marking me more. Easily, a finger slid into me. I moaned his name as he pumped it in and out, a second soon joining it. One hand on my thigh and the other fucking me, my brain was easily turning into a haze.
I gained enough thought to undo his belt, and palm his erection. He paused as I slid his underwear off of it, and gently spread the pre-come along the slit.
His mouth found mine again and I wasted no time, sucking his lower lip into my mouth and nipping at it. His hand moved out of me and I whimpered at the loss of contact, but when the tip of him met my entrance I moaned. Fuck, he was big.
We kept kissing, kept the tongue and teeth battle going as he slowly slid into me. Once at hilt, I leaned my head back, hitting the wall behind me as I moaned. ‘Fuck, James….” I said as he slowly slid out. His mouth was at my neck again, and I made myself two promises. One, never, ever, fucking get drunk and tell the girls that I had a thing for being marked, and two, this better keep fucking happening.
His slow thrusts turned to faster ones, making me lean my head against his shoulder and biting my lip to keep myself quiet. A particularly deep thrust had me moaning his name, and he paused momentarily and started a pace that hit my g-spot with every thrust. I’ve never felt this much pleasure in my life. No one else could compare to this feeling right now. I felt the coils in my lower stomach tighten and felt him twitching inside of me. Fuck, I’m close.
“(Y/N)” He whispered my name against my throat.
“James.” I whispered against his shoulder.
With that, I came undone. Our lips crashed together as I felt him come inside of me. Moans fell from both of lips as we stayed there for a few minutes, catching out breaths.
Our foreheads pressed against each other, we stared so deep into each other's eyes I swear I felt the universe move around us.
“We should have done that sooner, you know.” I told him. He chuckled and pecked my lips, carefully removing his hands from my thighs. I knew for a fact there would be grip marks, especially with his metal hand.
“We should have.” He replied, carefully sliding out of me. I kept my lips sealed shut, not letting a moan fall from them,
I lowered my legs to the ground again, and we separated to pull on and straighten our clothes. It took a bit, my legs wobbly and the slick running down them was definitely not helping.
We linked arms as we walked out of the alley and towards the parked cars, laughing at the absurdity and finality of what we had done.

Full Episode Commentary
2x13: Daddy Issues
Tumblr media
Daddy Issues is titled for John and Elena. I love this episode because they take Caroline. If you're gonna bring in werewolves, you might as well have a good werewolf/vampire fight. Werewolves have no point to me otherwise.
Tyler is pissed at Caroline because she knew about Mason's death and lied about her being the only vampire in town. It's such a tricky situation. He slams Caroline against her car, then leaves.
Tumblr media
Damon is still feeling Rose. The guilt, the pain. We also get a first look at Andie. She took over for Logan, so Damon sees her on the news as she reports on Jessica's death. I love this shower scene as it's written opposite his shower scene in 3x11.
John tells Elena he's keeping things to himself until he can trust her. It's more like he plans to kill her boyfriends and doesn't want her to know about it. Insane for him to claim he can't trust Elena, his own daughter. But it's this claimed lack of trust that informs you he's up to something.
"You brought back John Gilbert? That was your big 'Save Elena' move?" I can't stop laughing at Damon. It wouldn't be so bad if John hadn't tried to kill them. This reminder is essential to their scenes going forward. I'll show you why as I get to them. "Elena is putting all of her faith into some deal that she made with Elijah to keep everyone safe. I mean, do you trust Elijah? I don't trust him." This is why I can't stand it when Stefan caves. Stefan's gonna let Elena die and Damon and John will be the ones keeping her alive.
"It means I care, Stefan. It means I'm changing, evolving into a man capable of greatness. Better watch your back because I may just have to go get a hero-hairdo of my own, and steal your thunder."
What Damon really means is… steal his girl lol.
Caroline sends Stefan a 911 text while Jules stops in to see Tyler. She offers to help Tyler, but she asks him to leave Mystic Falls with her. Caroline sends Stefan to talk to Tyler to make peace between them.
Tumblr media
"I'm joking. Okay, I'm a little serious. I'm not gonna hurt him, Elena. I'm the good guy now, remember? I'm gonna have a civil conversation with your father."
Damon is teetering back and forth because of yesterday's events. I don't think even he knows what he plans to do. He's struggling in his twoness. Stefan breaks into the Lockwood estate to talk to Tyler. Not the smartest move, but this whole bit is ridiculous to me. Tyler should know that if they wanted him dead, he'd be dead by now. If Caroline weren't his friend, she wouldn't have put her life on the line to help him. He totally could've bit her.
Jules just wants Tyler. She'll end up losing her boyfriend because he's greedy. Two-fors never work in this show. They either get Tyler or they get revenge. They won't get both. Tyler isn't doing anything to help himself. If Stefan wanted im dead, he'd already be dead. It's like he doesn't wanna hear it, he just wants to run like a coward.
Tumblr media
John isn't too happy when he hears Damon is leading the council now, but it's a role that Damon takes quite seriously. "Look, things are different now. You can't come around and start up with all this anti-vampire stuff." Jeremy is fantastic because he's like Elena that way. "Help, help!" Tyler is such a bitch, honestly. This is the reason Caroline gets taken. She not only gets tortured because of Tyler, he adds to the bullshit later on.
Tumblr media
Elena: We just need answers. Please don't do anything stupid. Damon: Yeah, but stupid is so much more fun. Elena: Damon, I mean it. All I'm asking is you try to keep it together. Be the better man. Damon: Okay then.
Damon has two desires to kill. The first is John. It's Elena's smile that gets him in this scene.
Tumblr media
Like I said, the reminder that John tried to kill them plays its own role in these scenes. You can literally see the Battle of Willow Creek as they continue to cover the werewolf side. "You guys are drinking vervain?" When you see it, you understand what Damon is actually telling him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can also include the candles as John tried to kill him.
Tumblr media
John is trying to kill the only two people willing to protect Elena. It may not make sense, but... just as Elena is putting all of her faith in Elijah and his plan, John is putting all of his faith in Isobel and her plan. That'll be his mistake. This scene he has with John… it has a repeated soundtrack. It's the same soundtrack they played when he killed Bree, Only One by Alex Band.
Matt sets up a date for him and Caroline to talk, then Jules and her boyfriend abduct Caroline. Vervain mace and a wooden bullet to the head. Ouch. Jules' boyfriend is more sadistic than Damon. He's got Caroline in a cage. Makes me wonder what that cage is used for any other time. Tyler has no idea what he started, but he's gonna find out.
Tumblr media
"I'm steering clear of all women at the moment. Trust me, it's in the best interest of women everywhere."
Jenna is trying to hook Damon up with Andie. He's pushing women away because of what he is. He knows that anyone he's with will be targeted, and he doesn't wanna be the reason another woman dies. Had he stuck to this, Andie would still be alive. She'll follow the same path as Rose, only Stefan will take on Jules' role.
Tumblr media
Damon: You need to stop doing that. Elena: Doing what? Damon: Assuming that I'll play the good guy because it's you who's asking. Elena: Be the better man, Damon.
Damon's first desire to kill was John. His second desire to kill is Tyler. I'm mentioning them now because they're relevant to his scene with Andie in the bathtub. He's getting frustrated here because there's no assuming about it. He will play the good guy because it's she who's asking, and in doing so, he can't be himself.
Tumblr media
Jules' boyfriend is torturing the hell out of Caroline. "Are you talking about the deal that you made with Elijah? Do you really think he's gonna keep his promise to you? Putting your faith in him was a dumb move." John and Damon feel the same way about Elijah. When you see the two witch spells the writers put in this storyline, you'll see what they did with John and Damon. I'll cover it all when I get to Klaus' ritual. "First dad duty: ground your daughter. Keep her here." Damon is ordering John to guard his daughter for the sake of keeping her safe, which I find hilarious af.
Tumblr media
"My brother, the peacemaker. Since Stefan got here before me, I'm gonna let him try it his way before I resort to my way, which is a little bloodier. So... give us Caroline."
This is one of my favorite Damon entrances. Note how they cut from John to Damon. John and Isobel and Elena, Damon and Liz and Caroline, Brady and Jules and Tyler. I'm saying that Damon is there on Liz's behalf. He's taken on a parental role with Caroline because Liz was compelled. She has no idea her daughter is a vampire and she's being tortured. Just as he is with Bonnie, he is with Caroline. Their continued problem isn't on him, it's on them. Best Caroline not let her hate for Damon devour her.
Tumblr media
While I do love the heart rip, nothing is as insane as the move he pulls on Brady. Check this out...
Tumblr media
Damon had Brady dead to rights until Jules shot him with a wooden bullet. They're gonna use the moonstone to drag out Brady's life a ittle longer for the sake of filler. Anything to bide time until Klaus' ritual. I love it when Elijah's witch comes in because Tyler's like wtf? He just got done learning he's a werewolf, then finding out vampires exist. Now he's discovering that witches exist too.
Tumblr media
John: Why don't you take a bite to find out? Damon: It's not worth my time. John: We didn't finish our conversation. Damon: I'll bite.
This moment here jumps back to 1x18.
Tumblr media
This is John's second attempt at Damon's life, and just as much the writing I'm talking about, the reason I'm frustrated. Either they suck at writing or they wanted Katherine to lie to Damon. John gave him that dagger to take out Elijah BEFORE he met with Katherine. Had John went to see Katherine first, it wouldn't have been a problem. Once you get to their end scene, you'll see it.
Tumblr media
Damon: I like a woman who knows what she wants. Andie: Thank you. So, what do you want, Mister tall-dark-and-handsome?
This is Damon and Elena in their 3x22 flashback. Understand why Elena ends up in his bathtub. She knows what she wants.
Tumblr media
Damon: You see, the thing is, miss sexy-reporter-girl... I have a problem I need help with. It's really messing with my mind.
Tumblr media
Damon: I'm in love with a woman I can never have.
Trust me when I tell you Damon doesn't see Stefan as an obstacle. Stefan isn't the reason Damon feels he can never have Elena.
Tumblr media
Andie: So, why can't you have her? She's with another man, I assume? Damon: Yeah. but that's not the point.
The point, the point. This hits in 3x1. Damon isn't talking about Stefan, he's talking about himself. He feels he's the reason he can never have Elena because he's a vampire.
Damon: The point is, I'm in love with her, and that drives me crazy. I'm not in control. Andie: You don't trust yourself around her? Damon: I don't trust myself around anyone, Andie. I'm bad, Andie. I do things. I kill people. Don't be afraid, you're okay.
Tumblr media
Andie: Why do you kill people? Damon: Because I like it. It's in my nature, it's who I am.
This is the very reason he felt it was in the best interest of women everywhere that he steer clear of all women. Rose died because he kills people, and collateral damage like Rose happens.
Tumblr media
Damon: But then, I have to stay together to protect her, and she wants me to be the better man. Which means I can't be who I am. Do you see the problem I'm having, Andie?
I can't stop laughing at how frustrated Damon is. This is where his two desires to kill come in. He wanted to kill John, then he wanted to kill Tyler. Elena wouldn't let him. Like I said, there's no assuming about it. He will play the good guy because it's she who's asking, and in doing so, he can't be himself. That's why he starts talking about how he kills people. He wanted to kill John and Tyler.
He's essentially stuck like Elena is in season 3. He can't live with her and he can't live without her. Andie is basically counseling Damon.
Tumblr media
Andie: Well, maybe this is who you are now. Love does that, Damon. It changes us. Damon: Just stop talking. Just kiss me, be my distraction.
Damon tells her to stop talking because he already knows how real this is. He went through it with Katherine. She changed him, ruined him. In saying this, Andie bsaically pushed Damon to embrace his twoness. So that's what you get... Damon acting like a vampire in Elena's absence, but acting human in her presence. This twoness doesn't become a problem for him until Stefan rips into Elena. That's when he realizes he has to let go of certain parts of himself. He has to make sacrifices. They make it clear that their vampire bites hurt at first, then become... pleasurable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
John visits Katherine at the tomb. This is where his dagger scene with Damon becomes an issue for me. He already gave the dagger to Damon to take out Elijah. When he hits the tomb to visit Katherine, they make it obvious that this is the first time they've spoken.
John: I know you were expecting someone else. Katherine: I sent Stefan to find Isobel. John: She got your message. She was busy, so she sent me instead.
What I don't get is how Katherine claims to have chosen who got the dagger for Elijah. John already gave it to Damon, and gave it to him before he met with Katherine. So... am I to believe she somehow made the deal with Isobel while claiming to have made the deal with John? And how exactly did she get a message to Isobel, simply by having Stefan contact her by phone? I say this because Katherine tells Damon in a later scene that she had the choice who died using the dagger, and this was the deal she made with John. Yet here, they make it clear that she was expecting Isobel and this was the first time she'd spoken to John.
Tumblr media
These are their end-of-the-episode scene cuts. From Elena to Andie to Katherine. Know what Andie does for Damon, and every reason I refer to her as his bridge. She helps him shift from a vampire girlfriend to a human girlfriend. Similarly, watch Stefan shift from a human girlfriend to a vampire girlfriend, then watch Stefan marry Caroline while she's wearing Katherine's necklace.
What Stefan did for Caroline in this episode... is every reason they should be dating. They already have more than Stelena ever will.

2k7 Raph Don - 🤪 [reverse uwu] (TEXT: plessee xome homw Raph I need y. ou - Please come home Raph I need you)
| Send 🤪 to receive a drunk text from my muse
Raph couldn't explain to anyone where his head was at these days. His mind was not a place he wanted to be left to long anymore, anytime he was? well the lack of messages on his phone should answer that all. Raph had long ago stopped talking to Yvoone, and April at that. His new life style wouldn't let him cross thier paths anyway. No clue to know that Von and Don had sort of drifted apart. Raphael used to write letters to Leo well he was away but well one letter may have been the last. He tended to avoid Splinter all together, if they crossed path his responses were short and quick to the point.
Raph couldn't explain to anyone where his head was at these days. His mind was not a place he wanted to be left to long anymore, anytime he was? well the lack of messages on his phone should answer that all. As was the perfect and sound option to take for someone who was clearly not doing well. Raphael had slowly started to isolate himself. Some connections were easy to step away from. Mrs. M? he hadn't seen her in a good while he take peeks in and make sure she was fine but that was it. Seemed she still had her home that's good. Tyler? Kids growing up he don't need to keep talking to some random guy who helped him once, he never asked if any letters came from the kid anyway. The near family was a bit harder he had to admit. Having always seen April as his sister, not to mention Yvoone who he was oddly close with, but he had long ago stopped talking to either of them. His new life style wouldn't let him cross their paths anyway. No clue to know that Von and Don had sort of drifted apart.
His own family he lived with? He tended to avoid Splinter all together, if they crossed path his responses were short and quick to the point. Well With Leo off on his big important journey? Kind of made it easy. However Raphael used to write letters to Leo well he was away but well one letter may have been the last. Amounting to being mad they picked to stay away longer. Mikey? well Mikey was easy to sort of harder to push out than he thought. Enough times of showing his nasty side was all it took to get Mikey to decide he was tried of Raph's constant bad mood. kind of only left two from there. Raph was just getting worse and worse it just made sense to him to burn his bridges and try and figure things out himself. Raphael didn't need to drag anyone with him. Breaking up with Casey should been the real tell that he was going off the deep end. The final nail in the coffin he would be laying to rest in as he just dug this hole deeper. Was telling Don to stay the fuck out of his life. Even Raph couldn't understand why he was doing any of this. He had one good day and then everything would feel like shit all over again. Of course he felt awful for it he and Don had just been laughing over his stupid joke not to long ago. For a moment Raph had believed Don started a sex hotline service.
Raph had already been bad enough after breaking up with Casey, Don wasn't doing anything wrong! And yet Raph went off on him and told him to fuck off basically. Well Raph had what he wanted didn't he? He wasn't going to throw some pity party over it all. Far as he was convinced this was how it should be, he always said he was a lone wolf after all. And right now as he sat on his bike, tucked away in an alley. fulled suit in his Night Watcher gear, staring up to the roof tops he knew so well above. Raphael never felt more alone in his whole life.
Rooftops used to be something he ran with his brothers. Races with Leo, training, messing around at times even. It was how they saw the city the closest they got to open air of it all, even risk going out in the day. Time spent going with Don to run scrap runs to the junk yard and around the city. They would bricked here and there but mostly just chat that's how Don learn Raph thought motorcycles were cool. Telling them about one he saw a human ride he talked about it for hours and guess Don kept that in mind and was why he made the shell cycle for Raph. Sure he made one for the rest later but the first? it was for him. Why was he thinking about that so much he should be listening to the police scanner. With no one bothering to know where he was he could spend more time doing this after all. Yet he kept thinking of his twins expressed when yelled at them to stay the fuck out of his life. It was like Casey all over again. With a few he just sort of drifted away, from most his family he shut them out, but Casey and Don? He hurt them. usually he just pop in and out of the lair but after that? He sometimes spend days away from home with out a word. Honestly he couldn't believe no one knew he was the Night Watcher, maybe he should count himself lucky.
A buzz on his side had him curious more than anything as he tug his phone free from his side. Looking at the screen was a bit hard with the helmet on. Huffing he pulled it off and sat it on the back of the seat behind him. Not like anyone was going to see him right now.
Tumblr media
"Don?" that old spark of worry flickered as soon as he saw the name quick to open his messages, clearly if Don was texting him something had to be wrong right?
[TEXT] plessee xome homw Raph I need y. ou
Raph knew how his brother texted, sober and drunk. This was a drunk text. Sure his urgency hadn't left him but doubt did start to cloud over his mind. Don didn't need him no one needed him! Not when he was..drowning. Hand drag down over his face, that was how it felt. Like he was being dragged down into the water unable to breath because soon as he opened his mouth his lungs would fill with water. Anyone that was too close would just get pulled down with him, whatever was weighing him down. Was just to fucking heavy for him to bear alone.
"Ya don' need me Don..ya better off wit' out me...alll of you are. I ain't no good to anyone 'ike 'his." He says to no one really Don needs him..thats a laugh what good was he ever to his brother. To anyone.
Raphael knew he had something wrong with him, a lack of control on his anger that never burned out. For some reason theirs a thought in the back of his head about what was told to him before about his anger. He can't remember though. Something inside him was broken, Donnie of all people would see that and maybe he did see it all the time. Donnie shouldn't have to fix him. Raph was beyond repair. So why even after he told them to fuck off did Donnie still keep reaching out to him?
Jeez maybe because he is your brother and he cares about, he's worried about you. because he knows you and deep down despite their pain they know something isn't right with you. If any of his brother would know him best it was Don. Maybe it was wrong to have a favorite sibling but before Casey, his best friend was Donnie. Donnie was still his best friend after meeting Casey. And for some reason they found it in them to still worry and care about Raphael. Expect..they were drunk.
That's what stuck out to Raphael the most, it was what this mind picked to focus on the most at least. That Don only texted him this because they were drunk. Not when sober..they would sober up and see that text and be annoyed they texted Raphael at all. So he left it on read, as he reached back for his helmet.
"Ya don' need me." Pushing away found memories of his twin, pushing anything about them away. Shutting them away. "Let me jus' fuckin' drown." He states as he puts his phone away, scanner report some store break in, low rate but better to keep busy he thinks as the engine revs and he misses the ones on the shellcycle but...that was gift from Don he can't use it anymore. Taillights kicked on and he was peeling out to the street to get to the store that was getting rob in that very moment. This was what he wanted to be alone, no one should follow him on this path he's found himself to be. Not even his twin brother.

✼ ҉ ✼ ҉ ✼ ҉ ✼ ҉ ✼ ҉ ✼ ҉ ✼ ҉ ✼ ҉ ✼ ҉ ✼ ҉ ✼
“Wait, what the fuck?”
Your friends all stared at you with wide eyes, mouths agape. JJ’s grip tightened on your thigh, you winced a little but he didn’t let up, which you were glad he didn’t.
“Wait, your mom is dead?” John B asked, earning a smack on the back of the head from Sarah.
“You had a sister?!” Pope explained, confusion plastered on his face. “I thought that was just a ru- OW!” A smack from Kiara.
You couldn’t help but roll your eyes. “Yeah.”
“You think you know a person then all of the sudden she has a dead mom and sister who were killed by her step brother that you didn’t know about.” John B said, a hint of humor in his voice.
“This isn’t funny, John B.” Sarah scolded.
“It’s fine, Sarah.” You assured your friend. “Look, I know I’m a shit friend for not telling you guys things about my life. Tyler, the abortion, my mom and sister. And I’ll work on getting better at it but all of that isn’t important right now, okay?” You looked between John B and Pope, waiting expectedly before they both nodded and backed off.
“What makes you say that, (Y/n)?” Kie asked you, fully turning her attention to you.
“Well when- um, when Tyler showed up at my house that day,” You swallowed your fear, sitting up straight and taking a deep breath. “When Tyler showed up at my house that day, he said ‘I did everything I could to get my mom to marry your dad. My mom doesn’t know, but what she doesn’t know won’t kill her, and now you’re ruining everything with your fat fucking mouth.’”
The room was silent. Nobody really knew what to make out of all of this, all this time you had come off so unbothered, like your life was picture perfect and there was never a dark cloud in your sky. Everything that had happened the past couple of weeks came out of nowhere for the group of friends, especially JJ, John B and Pope, who didn’t even know you had a step brother. But when the three thought back on it, they never really asked.
After about a minute of everyone sitting in shock, Sarah spoke up, “Well, we need to tell your dad and Christine, right?’
You shook your head, “Not until I have enough proof. The entire island’s eyes are on me right now and if I’m wrong I make a fool of myself. I know this is gonna sound really stupid but, I need to find Tyler.”
“No.” JJ protested, his voice sharp.
“You’re right, (Y/n). That does sound stupid.” Pope agreed.
“Super stupid.” John B chimed in.
“I love you, but I have never heard more stupid words leave your mouth.” Kiara said.
“Guys, maybe hear her out.” Sarah said.
Kie whipped her head to the side, looking at the blonde girl in bewilderment. “Seriously? I’m not listening to you when all you seem to do is put (Y/n) in more danger.”
“I didn’t mean to! I didn’t know what the fuck to do!” “You tell someone, dumbass!”
Jesus, you two! Shut the fuck up!” You interjected, standing up and stomping your foot, ignoring the shooting pain going up your leg.
“I came here because I need help, not to sit here and be judged and have you two fight with each other. Kie, lay off. I begged Sarah not to say anything until I was ready, and promised not to go home until I said something, okay? And you two.” You gestured to John B and Pope, “Telling me I’m stupid for something that I haven’t even explained yet is a little premature. Can we all fucking focus?” You had your time to cry and allow yourself to be broken, but now it was time to get shit done.
Kie shrunk in her seat, muttering a half assed “Sorry” under her breath and crossing her arms. John B and Pope nodded, both boys looking down at their shoes. You sat back down and JJ’s hand returned to its rightful spot on your thigh.
“Now, just, listen to me for a second. We,” You put the emphasis on that word so everyone would be a little bit more open to the idea, “Need to find Tyler so we can somehow record a confession from him. I’ll rile him up, and once I get the confession we get the fuck out. Got it?”
“How the fuck are you gonna find him? Even the Sheriff's department can’t find him.” Sarah said.
“Right,” You responded, “First thing to consider, the police are incompetent, especially here. They probably looked at my house and his job before giving up.”
JJ chuckled, shaking his head as he listened to you talk in awe.
“Second thing to consider, I have his number. I can ask him to meet up and talk it out.”
“The more you talk, the more I really don’t like this plan.” JJ muttered, raking his fingers through his hair.
“The more you talk, the more I wanna kick your teeth in.” You smiled sweetly, “This is the only way.” You tried pulling a joke, but JJ’s face remained concerned, so your face fell and you leaned into him. “I’ll be okay, JJ. I’ve been dealing with Tyler for years, okay?”
JJ nodded, taking a deep breath before pulling away from you.
“So what can we do?”
“Wherever I meet up with Tyler, I need you all to be on standby. Someone on lookout, someone hiding near me just in case things go south, and someone waiting in the vam.”
Everyone agreed in unison, nodding their heads. “Anything we can to get this asshole put away.” John B said, giving you an encouraging smile.
+
After going over a few details, and finally sending the text to Tyler that you wanted to meet up, the pogues dispersed around the chateau. Pope was talking Sarah’s ear off about the latest book he had just finished while she politely listened and even threw in a couple of her own thoughts, John B and Kie playfully jabbed long sticks at each other, and JJ stood on the porch, watching you swing by yourself on the hammock, lost in thought. He was trying to decide if he should approach you, or give you space. Just then you turned your head and made eye contact with the blond boy, a soft smile on your face, your signature red lipstick back where it belongs.
Fuck space.
He bounded down the stairs and made his way over to you on the hammock, plopping down next to you. Neither of you said anything for a couple minutes, there wasn’t much to say.
“I was 14.” You said, breaking the silence, causing JJ’s head to turn towards you. He stayed silent as you continued.
“Hit and run.” You laughed bitterly. “My little sister was 12. We were finally getting to the point where we didn’t fight everyday, we were becoming friends. She had just started asking me for advice about boys and was always asking to have sleepovers.” You smiled, remembering your little sister fondly. “It still hurts. It’ll always hurt, I think. But, I’ve learned I can’t change what happened, and I try to be thankful for the time I had with her. I would say she probably wouldn’t want me to be sad, but that’s not true, she loved attention.” JJ laughed with you this time.
“What’s her name?” JJ asked.
“Layla.” You responded, her name feeling weird on your tongue. You hadn’t said her name in years. “And my mom, gosh there was no one like my mom.” JJ wasn’t asking, but you were telling.
“She just always understood, you know? She’d let me stay home if my mind was taking over, she continued to buy the ice cream I told her was my favorite when I was 7, I didn’t have the heart to tell her I didn’t like it anymore.” You frowned, staring at your hands. “Christine is great, I love her with everything in me. But sometimes I wish she was in my life under different circumstances.”
JJ nodded in understanding, taking his hand in yours and pressing a lingering kiss to it. “They sound wonderful.”
“They are- were.”
JJ shook his head, “Just because they’re not here doesn’t mean they stopped being wonderful.”
You yanked JJ’s hand so his arm wrapped around your shoulder and you leaned into him, earning a sweet kiss on the top of your head.
“You’re sweet, princess.” You teased, using the nickname that you would use when the two of you fought.
“Tell anyone and you’re dead meat, baby.”
You laughed, resting your head on his chest. “What changed your mind about me?” You asked, biting your bottom lip.
JJ thought for a moment, mulling over his words to avoid saying the wrong thing.
“I never changed my mind.”
Your heart dropped as you began to pull away, feeling embarrassed.
“Uh uh uh, let me finish.” JJ pulled you back against him and you huffed. “I never changed my mind because I’ve felt this way about you all along. I’ve never had such strong feelings for a person before, so when you came along I mistook all of the signs as hatred. My mom left and my dad…” JJ trailed off for a moment, trying to put together his words in the least concerning way possible, “My dad takes his anger out on me. And I just never really learned how to receive love, or how to understand it.”
Your heart sank at JJ’s words. All those times he’d show up to the Chateau with bruises and scrapes, telling everyone to fuck off instead of boasting about how he “totally kicked that kooks ass”, it was his dad.
“JJ-”
“Mmm, let’s not do that now, yeah? Just know I’ve adored you this whole time, I was just too stupid to see it.”
“When did you change your mind about me?” JJ asked.
You pondered for a moment, thinking back on when you first started thinking of JJ differently.
“That night at the Boneyard, when Tyler showed up. I was dancing with Pope and all I could think was, ‘I need JJ’, and then there you were. I didn’t want you to ever leave my side again. When you took me back to the Chateau and sat me down on the couch, I was confused because I felt so safe and loved, more than I ever have. It was so out of the blue. Hours before we had just been screaming at each other and then I never wanted you to let me go.”
“You’re making this really hard, Red.” JJ huffed, running a hand over his face.
“What?” You asked craning your neck to look up at him.
“Not kissing you.”
You sat up from your position on his chest, turning your body so you were facing each other, your legs hanging off one side of the hammock and his off the other.
“Then kiss me.”
“(Y/n)...”
“What, scared?”
JJ didn’t say anything, he just looked at you. You had that striking red grin, and your eyes held that glint of mischief and joy.
“You were just inconsolable like, an hour ago.”
“But I’m not now.”
“I-”
“Please, JJ.” You pouted, your eyes big and your frown deep as you slowly reached for him.
And he couldn’t say no to that face.
He slowly brought his hand up to cradle the side of your neck, his thumb resting on your cheek as his face slowly leaned into yours, his hand softly pulling you closer by the neck. You brought one hand up to the back of his neck, burying your fingers in his hair as his other hand found its place on your waist. You stared at each other for a moment, noses barely touching. Your heart was beating so fast you felt like it was about to crawl out of your throat, the anticipation was driving you crazy but you were also cherishing every second of it, just being so close to him, knowing what’s about to happen.
His lips just barely brushed over yours and your entire body erupted in butterflies, goosebumps dancing all up and down your arms and legs.
“You fucker.” You teased and JJ giggled before fully planting his lips on yours. You felt like you had been on fire and had been dumped into an ice bath. The relief that covered your entire body and soul was something you had never felt before. You had kissed plenty of people in your lifetime, and nothing had ever compared to the feeling you had kissing JJ.
You pulled away for a moment to catch your breath, but JJ whined and pulled you back into him, bringing you to sit on his lap as he continued to kiss you. You both giggled and broke apart when you nearly toppled out of the hammock, JJ’s hands immediately steadying you. He looked up at you while stroking your cheekbone with his thumb before planting soft kisses to your arm, trailing his lips up to your shoulder, neck, cheek and finally one last sweet kiss on your lips.
“Well it’s about goddamn time!” John B yelled as the rest of the pogues whooped and hollered, jumping up and down. Both of you flipped off your friends and JJ kissed you once more, your middle fingers still in the air.
“You’re fucking incredible.” JJ muttered once you broke yet another kiss.
“I know.” You smirked.
Once JJ helped you off the hammock, with a lot of wincing and you telling him his kissing made your bruised lip hurt, you made your way back over to your friends, an unmistakable feeling of joy filling everyone’s hearts.
John B handed you and JJ a beer, which you had to decline because of your concussion, much to your dismay, but you gladly took the joint that Kie offered you, blowing out the smoke into JJ’s mouth before taking the hit for yourself. The sun started to set on the Chateau, so Pope and John B set up a fire and Kie brought out her ukulele, her and Sarah singing in harmony to Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. Your heart swelled in your chest listening to JJ quietly singing along with his arm slung around your shoulders, his face was tinted the slightest shade of pink from being in the sun all day, making his eyes look impossibly more blue. You knew tomorrow brought troubles and anxiety, but you pushed them to the back of your mind, enjoying this beautiful moment with your friends. You rested your head on JJ’s shoulder, your hand coming up to hold his that was around your shoulder, placing a gentle kiss on his hand. JJ blushed and squeezed you just a little bit tighter.
“(Y/n), you staying the night?”
You smiled and nodded, your eyes a bit droopy from the weed. You had texted Christine already, telling her you were staying the night and assuring her that everyone was staying the night and you were safe.
“Yes!” Sarah exclaimed, getting up from her spot next to John B. “More beer?” Everyone apart from you nodded as Sarah made her way inside the house to grab more cold beer.
“Aw, well if it isn’t the goonies.”
That voice.
Tyler approached the Chateau, Topper, Kelce and Rafe hot on his heels.
Everyone stood up immediately, JJ pushed you behind him without a second thought.
“Heard my baby sister wanted to meet up tonight, thought I’d come to her, spare her the trouble.” Tyler said, shoving his hands in his pockets.
You were appreciative of JJ’s protectiveness over you, but this was your fight. “I know what you did, Tyler.” You said, trying your hardest to hide the shakiness in your voice as you pushed JJ out of your way, taking a couple steps forward.
“There she is!” Tyler exclaimed, gesturing his arms to you. “You don’t know shit, dumbass.”
“You killed my mom and sister.”
“Me?” Tyler raised a hand to his chest in shock and turned to his friends, who all shook their heads like you were crazy. “I would never do such a thing.” “You said-”
“Did you hit your head too hard the other day? Sounds to me like you’re making things up.”
He was trying to make you feel crazy, and you weren’t putting up with it.
“What was your plan, huh?” You asked, standing your ground. “Hit my mom and my little sister with your car, devastating my family so my dad could go running into your unknowing mother’s arms. Were you gonna kill all of us next so you could get the money? How exactly did you plan on doing that?”
Tyler’s chest was heaving up and down, sharp breaths coming in and out of his nose.
“Layla was 12 years old, you psychopath.”
“I never meant to kill your fucking sister!”
And there it was. Eerie silence fell over the Chateau like a heavy blanket.
“You motherfucker.” You shrieked, stomping forward and sending your hand flying across his cheek. Before you could even blink, Tyler had his hand around your throat and the barrel of a gun pressed to your jaw. Everything seemed to move in slow motion. You could see the pogues, Kiara with a hand over her mouth and tears in her eyes, hugging Sarah close to her, John B and Pope holding JJ back, his eyes wild with anger and fear. You could see Topper and Kelce with wide eyes, obviously unaware of the gun in your step brother's possession. You could see Rafe with a knowing grin on his face. Bastard.
You were terrified, panic surging through your body as you tried to stay still so you wouldn’t anger him with any sudden movements.
“Any of you even think about moving and I kill her!” He screamed.
“Tyler, put the gun down man, what the fuck?” Topper said, his voice calm, trying to talk him down.
“Fuck you!”
And suddenly Tyler was on the ground, the gun flying into the darkness. JJ wasted no time running to your step brother, grabbing him by his shirt collar and beating his face with his fists. You and Rafe made eye contact before both of you made a break for the gun, scrambling through the darkness. Rafe tackled you down and tried to reach for it, but you kneed him in the crotch, hoping to buy you a couple seconds. The Cameron boy groaned and held his area, toppling over and whining in a fetal position.
“Pussy boy.” You rolled your eyes and crawled toward the gun, smiling once it was in your grip before Rafe pulled you back by your ankle. You flipped over onto your back and pointed the gun at him.
“You don’t have the guts.”
“Self defense, bitch. Now get off of me.”
Rafe backed up with his hands in the air and you made your way back to the group, gun in hand, still pointed at Rafe. Tyler and JJ were going at it, both throwing punches and kicks, the rest of the group fighting off Topper and Kelce.
“Back off my friends or I'll shoot!” You yelled, and everyone stopped and turned to you with your gun pointed at Rafe. The three kooks backed off with their hands up in surrender.
“You won’t shoot me, Little Red.” Tyler said, walking closer to you.
“I will if you try anything.” You responded, taking the gun off of Rafe and shoving him forward so he was still in your eyesight, now pointing it at Tyler.
“You stay away from her!” JJ yelled, charging towards Tyler but quickly being held back by Rafe and Topper.
Tyler got so close to you that the gun was touching his t-shirt.
Why was he testing you? He had to have something up his sleeve.
The motherfucker literally had something up his sleeve.
Tyler tore a switchblade out of his jacket sleeve and jabbed it into your collarbone, and in the same second you fired the gun.
Your brain felt fuzzy, you couldn’t even feel the knife in your collarbone, the only way you knew it was there was because you could see it sticking out of the corner of your eye.
You heard screams, multiple screams.
Footsteps running away.
Was someone crying?
Were you crying?
Everyone ran to you, JJ leading the group, so he got to you first. He immediately put his hands on your face, frantically searching your eyes before you dropped to your knees, JJ following suit.
“Baby, look at me.” He said firmly. Someone gently took the gun from your hands, why were you still holding it? You brought your hand up to touch the knife, crying out in pain from the smallest touch.
“No, don’t touch it, okay? Leave it alone, paramedics are on their way okay?”
You still didn’t look at him, your eyes were wide as you stared at everyone around you, their faces full of concern.
“She’s in shock.” Pope stated. He was crouched in front of you, next to JJ. “Try to bring her back to reality.”
“How the fuck do I do that?” JJ snapped.
“Chill, JJ! Talk to her, touch her, anything!”
JJ’s left hand continued to cradle your face and you leaned into his touch as his right hand threaded through your hair. “You’re okay, okay? Can you talk to me?” His voice broke, tears beginning to fill his blue eyes.
Your eyes wandered away from the group and landed on Tyler’s body, lifeless. You let out a gasp as if all of the wind had been knocked out of your body.
“I killed him.” You rasped.
JJ quickly moved in front of the body, blocking your view of him. Your breathing was shallow as you brought your hands up to your neck, trying to claw at the skin to make way for you to breathe. Pope’s hands gently grabbed yours, moving them away from your neck and holding them in your lap. JJ gave him a thankful nod and he situated himself in front of you.
“Christine-” Your body flooded with guilt and sadness for your stepmom, that was her son. He may have done unspeakable things to you and her family but that was her son. And you killed him.
“Hey, hey, hey. Shhh,” JJ was quick to stop the terrible thought. “You had to, okay? She’ll understand. Just focus on me, baby.”
You nodded and squeezed Pope’s hands, focusing your eyes on JJ’s.
“You’re doing so good, pretty girl. Just a couple more minutes, okay?”
You nodded again. The pain in your collarbone was beginning to worsen as your shock wore off and you whimpered.
Great, you thought, another fucking injury to make my life even better.
Really your whole body hurt, your concussion and bruises worsening and stitches ripping open from Rafe tackling you to the ground.
“It hurts.” You whine, a single tear escaping from your eye, JJ wiped it before it could run down your face. “I know.” He whispered. “I know, my love, I’m so sorry.” He rested his forehead on yours, trying his best to give you as much comfort as he could without pulling you against him and driving the blade further in.
“Fuck, you guys. We didn’t get a recording.” Kie said, slapping her palm against her forehead. You removed one hand from Pope’s and worked through your pain and brought your phone out of your back pocket, tossing it on the ground, not having enough strength to hand it to her.
John B picked it up and smiled, your phone had been recording the entire time, starting just a minute after Tyler made himself known at the Chateau.
“(Y/n), you magnificent kook.” John B said, giving your arm a squeeze. You had moved your forehead to rest on JJ’s shoulder, your body posed awkwardly to avoid the knife being touched, one hand still in Pope’s.
Everyone was relieved, but the dead body in their presence and the knife in your body made it hard to be completely relieved. Once the paramedics and police arrived, JJ had to release you from his hold, watching the paramedics put you on the gurney and load you in the back of the ambulance, by yourself, for the second time.
Kiara and Pope were talking to the police, showing them the proof on your phone and the gun and walking them through everything that happened while JJ watched the ambulance drive away, as soon as it was out of sight he broke down, John B quick to pull his friend into his arms, Sarah gently leaned her head on his back, her hand coming up to stroke his back
“She doesn’t deserve any of this.” JJ cried, holding onto his best friend. He knew you were gonna be okay, the paramedics said the knife would be easy to remove and they could stitch up the wound easily, but he was worried about you. You would never be the same.
“She doesn’t.” John B agreed.
“I just want her to be okay.”
“I know, bubba, me too.” John B replied, his own tears brimming in his eyes, “She will be.”
JJ could feel Sarah shaking against him, her tears wetting his shirt and he unravelved in arm from John B to bring her into the hug. “Get in here, kook princess.” JJ teased through his tears. Pope and Kiara soon joined the group hug, comforting their friends through touch.
“What did Shoupe say?” JJ asked once they all pulled away, wiping at his tears.
“They said (Y/n)’s okay, a very obvious case of self defense, but they’re still going to ask her a couple questions once she’s of sound mind.” Pope answered and Kiara nodded.
“Thank God.” Sarah breathed out and JJ’s shoulders relaxed in relief, one less thing to worry about.
“Well why are we all just standing here?” John B asked after a couple moments of silence. “Let’s go see our girl.”

a/n: i did it!!! bartender!tom was always present in my mind and after that picture (thanks paddy!!) i couldn’t help myself ;))) i hope you guys like this and please let me know what you think <3 enjoy!!
Two weeks, three days, 5 hours, and 22 seconds. That was the time your best friend Briana gave you to mourn your last failed relationship. Once that time had passed, she broke into your house, made you take a much necessary shower, forcing you to shave and wash your hair, while she took care of the mess that was your house. Plastic food containers and cans of beer and Coca-Cola littered both the kitchen and the living room floor, making the house smell like a garbage can.
“Glad to see you’re still alive!” Briana cheered after you got out of the shower, wearing your fluffy robe. “I am but barely. Wow, what did you do to my house?” You asked, being met with a completely different scenario from the one you left.
“I just put out the trash, y/n! Something you should have done before.” Briana scolded you, making you roll your eyes. “Should have waited and put me out too, since I feel like trash!” You groaned, flopping down on your sofa.
“Hey, no, no, no! Get up, y/n! We’re going out!” Your best friend announced, before trying to make you stand. “Noooo, please, Bri! I’ll do anything you want, but that!” You pleaded, but it was of no use. “I don’t wanna hear it, y/n! I didn’t come here to clean your house, I came to take you out of here and that’s what I’m gonna do.” Briana stated, taking your hands.
“Bri, I love you, but please let me stay just a little longer, I’m not ready for the outside world yet.” You groaned, trying your best to convince your best friend. “y/n, I love you too, that’s why I’m here! I can’t stand seeing you like this anymore! Yeah, what Tyler did to you was fucked up, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop living your life because of it.” Briana exclaimed.
“I know, Bri! I know! It’s just… hard for me to wrap my head around the fact he ditched me after all this time and that I’m single now.” You sighed, starting to feel emotional. At that, Briana pulled you closer and wrapped her arms around you, engulfing you in one of her best hugs. “I’m sorry, y/n! I didn’t mean to make you cry again.” Bri apologized, making you chuckle through your tears. “It’s okay, Bri! It’s not your fault, really. I’m just… a mess!” You laughed, drying your face with the robe sleeves.
“One drink. We get one drink and if you still don’t wanna stay after that, we leave. I promise!” Your friend offered, with hopeful eyes. “Fine! One drink!” You sighed, to which she squealed. “Yes! Thank you, y/n! You’re not gonna regret it! I’ve found this new club, it opened just a couple of weeks ago. You’re gonna love it!” She grinned. “Now, go put on your best outfit, we’re going out!” Briana squealed, making you laugh at her excitement.
About an hour later and after a whole lot of makeup and trying on clothes, Briana finally decided you were done with what she called: a Cinderella transformation. Of course, you laughed at her choice of words, and to irritate your friend, even more, you asked if you also should be back at midnight. She gave you the middle finger, before giving up and joining you in laughter.
After a quick cab ride, that could be done by feet, not with the heels you two were wearing though, you and Briana were at the new club she talked about. Once inside, you had to admit your best friend was right. The place looked like a mix of everything you enjoyed, the walls were coated in a beautiful shade of red, while the lounge area was filled with dark green sofas. Different from the other places you had been to, the bar on this one was positioned right in the middle, with bar stools in that same dark green velvet texture, rounding the space. The dim light that filled the space gave a mysterious/sensual vibe, something you were also a fan of.
Briana immediately dragged you to the bar, waiting patiently for one of the many bartenders. While she made her request, you took the time to scan the place, noting some artsy bits that complemented the space. “What can I get you?” A smooth masculine voice took you out of your daze, making you avert your attention to him. Right in front of you, a gorgeous boy with hazel eyes and chocolatey brown curls grinned at you, waiting for your answer. What was even the question?
“I’m sorry, I didn’t hear you.” You apologized, making his smile grow even more. “I asked what can I get you tonight, darling?” He asked, making you smile with the nickname. “Oh, uh… a daiquiri, please!” You finally said, not being able to avert his gaze. “Good choice! I’ll be right back, girls!” He smirked, before going to the enormous wall of beverages behind him.
Once he was out of earshot, Briana lightly kicked your bare leg, getting your attention. “Isn’t he hot?” She mouthed, making you roll your eyes. “Really, Bri? Already?” Shaking your head, you went back to looking at your surroundings. “Oh, c’mon y/n! A woman has to eat!” Briana joked, making you both burst out laughing.
Seconds later, hot guy was back, this time with two cocktail shakers in his hands. Like every bartender in the world, he made his presentation while pouring the ingredients into the containers, making sure to really flex his arms while shaking it. Not that you noticed.
With two glasses in front of you, he poured the drinks in, doing the finishing touches before serving them to you. “Two pretty drinks for two pretty ladies, enjoy!” He smirked, before going back to his business. “Oh God, he only gets better!” Briana jokingly fanned herself, making you laugh. “He’s just doing his job, Bri! How many times do you think he used that one?” You asked your friend, who rolled her eyes at you. “You’re no fun!” She groaned, putting her tongue out.
Briana was only halfway through her Cosmopolitan when one of her favorite songs started to play. She made everything in her power to make you go with her but you denied her offer, stating you were fine watching her from the bar. With her drink in her hands, she made her way into the dance floor, purposely shaking her booty at you, which made you laugh and almost choke on your barely touched drink.
“Not into dancing?” The same voice from minutes ago asked, startling you. “Oh, no! Not today, at least!” You shrugged, offering him a smile. “So, what brought you and your friend here? I’m Tom, by the way!” He asked, cleaning the surface in front of him, making the watch he wore catch the fluorescent lights of the club. “y/n! And to be honest, she dragged me here.” You told him, giving into their usual small talks. “Wanna talk about it? I’m a pretty damn good listener!” He offered you with a smile.
You took a deep breath, asking yourself if it was really a good idea to share a part of your life with a stranger, and since you weren’t going to step foot on the dance floor, you thought this was the next most reasonable thing to do. Right? “Well, I was into a two-year relationship that ended a couple of weeks ago, and apparently staying inside your house, eating takeout food, and crying over stupid romantic movies is not a very healthy thing to do, so today she went to my house and here I am.” You smiled, taking a sip of your drink.
Once you looked at Tom, he gave you a pitiful look, to which you shrugged. “That’s not even the worst part though.” You said, the alcohol in your system already making the choices for you. “Instead of calling me or sending me a text asking to talk, you know, like a normal person, he invited me to his parents’ tenth-anniversary party and broke up with me in front of his whole family, claiming I wasn’t what he wanted in a relationship anymore.” With a raise of your glass, you finished your sad story, downing the rest of your daiquiri.
“Damn, what a dick!” Tom breathed after a couple of seconds, making you chuckle. “Oh, well! Cheers to single life, I guess…” You said, raising your now empty glass. “Need a refill?” He asked, pointing to the glass on your hands. “Please!” You huffed, before thanking him. “What will it be now?” Tom smirked, seeing your thinky face. “I don’t know, something strong.” He nodded, giving you two thumbs-ups, before going back to the wall to collect the ingredients.
Once the song ended, Briana came back to you and you two chatted until Tom came back with your drink, waiting for your approval. “It’s good! I like it! Thanks, Tom!” You smiled, locking eyes with him. “Do you want a refill too, darling?” He asked Briana, to which she said a beer would be fine. Once he was off, you felt your best friend's eyes burning a hole in your skull. “What?” You asked, impatiently. “We’re already on a name basis then?” Briana smirked, making you roll your eyes at her. “Yeah, I mean, he introduced himself, what did you want me to do?” You snapped and that was enough to her smirk double in size. “Okay, girl! You sure you don’t want to go home then?” She asked you for what felt like the fifth time. “Yes, Bri! I’m good! I promise!” You assured your best friend before she once again was off to the dance floor.
You quietly took sips of your new strawberry drink, watching from afar as your friend seemed to get her eyes on a specific guy for the night. She gave you a wink, making you roll your eyes at her antics. “She seems to be enjoying herself.” You heard Tom’s voice, turning the barstool to find him looking at you. “Yeah, she always does!” You agreed, taking another sip of your drink. “So, you’re from here?” He asked, sounding interested. “Yeah, I’m a local! You?” You said, raising your brows. “Same!” He smiled, going right to the next question.
The conversation kept going for most of the night, Tom attended some clients, while you took sips of your drinks, and once he was free, he was right back at you with another round of questions. Seeing as Briana wasn’t by your side anymore, you welcomed his company, glad at least this way you wouldn’t be left alone. “Museologist? I’ve never heard that before!” He grinned, making you chuckle. “Yeah, it’s not very common. Basically what I do is investigate and preserve material cultural stuff, like paintings, sculptures or constructions and immaterial, such as traditions and folklore.” You answered and Tom couldn’t help but find adorable the way your eyes lit up while you talked.
Briana came back after a couple more songs, sitting by your side and asking Tom another beer. “So, found your prey?” You joked, making her laugh. “Actually, I did! See that blonde? With the samurai bun?” She pointed and you nodded once your eyes landed on him. “Nice, Bri!” You complemented, giving her a playful high five. “Right? And he’s so sweet and smart and funny! He even asked me if I wanted to go to his house.” She blurted, seemingly disappointed. “And?” You asked, not getting why she reacted that way. “Oh, no! I’m not leaving you. I dragged you here so I’m taking you home.” Briana exclaimed, to which you rolled your eyes. “Bri, I’m totally able to call a cab and go home by myself. I’m fine, I promise! You can go with Mr. Samurai bun if you want.” You assured her, seeing her eyes widen. “No, y/n/n! I promised you!” She protested, making you groan. “I’m fine, Bri! Go with him!” Once again, you insisted. “Are you sure?” She asked and you had to laugh at her. “I’m not a child, Bri! Now go, he’s not going to wait all night!” You teased, getting a hug and a kiss on the cheek from your friend before she was off.
“Lost your friend?” Tom asked once he was back from his bartender duties. “Yeah, it's just me now and I think I’ll actually call it a night and go home.” You told him, making him frown. “Hey, not to sound creepy or anything but are you going by yourself? Because that’s not very safe and my shift ends in like ten minutes. If you want, I can accompany you.” With hopeful eyes, the boy in front of you smiled, making your heart flutter just a tiny bit. You thought about leaving a stranger accompanied you home, you really did, but something in your gut told you it was fine, Tom was a good guy and would never do anything to harm you. So, you went with it. “Yeah, that would be great, actually.” You smiled and ten minutes later, you were both leaving the club, at 3:30 in the morning.
Tom offered to call a cab but seeing as your house was only a few minutes away, you asked if it was okay for him that you guys walked. He agreed and with the moon illuminating your steps, the pair of you made your way into the almost silent streets. You guys kept talking and occasionally your hands would brush on one another, which caused little butterflies to erupt in your stomach. Once in front of your apartment building, you stopped, having no idea what to do next, since you were in a relationship for the last two years.
“It was nice meeting and talking to you, Tom!” You said, opting for the easiest way out. “Yeah, the feeling is mutual, y/n!” He answered, stuffing both of his hands in his pockets. “Thank you for… listening.” You mumbled, making him chuckle. “Of course! Whenever you need!” He smiled, not moving a muscle. “I’ll see you around, then. Bye!” With a little wave of your hand, you made your way to the door, while Tom watched you from his place. “Sure! Bye, y/n!” He exclaimed, making you smile, finally entering the building.
That’s how you found yourself going back to that same club every Friday, getting a couple of drinks while talking to Tom, then being escorted home by him. You had been doing this for almost a month now and Briana was starting to get suspicious. It was Friday again and she had just called you while you finished getting ready. “So, any plans for tonight?” She asked, already predicting your answer. “Not really, just gonna get some drinks and head home.” You said while clasping your black sandals. “Tom’s gonna bring you home again?” You sighed, already knowing where this conversation was heading. “I don’t know, Bri! If he wants to.” You looked in the mirror for the last time, before taking your bag and heading out. Once Briana finally hung up, you threw your phone into your purse, getting into the cab.
The routine was the same, you got in, spotted Tom, sat in one of the many barstools, and waited for him to approach you. “What can I get this beautiful lady today?” He joked, a smile wide on his face. Today he was wearing a simple black shirt, tight around his muscles, the watch still sat proudly on his wrist, and his curls were a little bit messier than most days. “You know you don’t have to waste your pickup lines with me, Tom.” You smiled, watching his reaction. “Okay then, what can I get this grumpy old lady today?” He smirked, making you chuckle. “A Sex On The Beach, please?!” You grinned and after a quick wink, he was off.
The rest of the night passed like magic, you didn’t even see the time pass and once you took a look at your phone, you saw that it was almost time for Tom’s shift to end, which meant it was time to head home. The chilly London air hit as soon as you stepped out of the club, making you shiver, seeing as you were only in a dress. Like the gentleman he was, Tom took off his jacket and placed it on your shoulders, and although you protested, saying he was going to catch a cold, he assured you he was fine with his shirt.
You didn’t know what you were thinking when the words “Do you wanna come inside?” came out of your mouth but now was definitely too late to take them back. “Oh, yeah! Sure!” Tom agreed, making you smile. The short lift ride was awkward and once you walked into your apartment, the feeling only grew. Tom stayed pretty close to the door, with both of his hands in his pockets, while you put your purse away and turned on the lights. “Welcome and sorry for the mess.” You said, going back to the living room. Tom just smiled, before saying, “You call this messy? You should see my house!” You both laughed and the tension was back in the air. “Do you want anything? Water, wine, beer?” You offered, taking off your shoes and his jacket, putting the both away. “Water would be good.” He said and you quickly made your way to the kitchen, shaking your head to try and get rid of some very intrusive thoughts.
“Thanks!” He smiled, taking the glass from your hands, while your eyes kept focused on his arm and the prominent veins and the way his shirt was almost being ripped by his bicep. “y/n? You here?” Tom’s voice brought you back, making your face grow hot with the knowledge you got caught. “Yes, sorry!” You apologized, watching as his smirk grew in size. He placed the cup on the small table by your door, before taking a couple of steps closer. Slowly, as if testing the waters, he put his hands on your hips, leaning the smallest bit in, not taking that stupid smirk off of his face.
His smell was intoxicating, the mixture of alcohol and mint was definitely making your mind clouded. “Tom…” You whispered once he was only centimeters away from you. “What is it, y/n?” He asked, looking between your eyes and your lips. “Kiss me!” You almost pleaded, his smirk the last thing you saw before his lips were crashing into yours. The feeling was new, you hadn’t kissed anyone since your ex-boyfriend and you couldn’t help but compare them. Tom’s was so much better though, his lips could be thin but they held so much power on them, his mouth worked like magic against yours, and before you knew he was pulling away, completely breathless. The pause didn’t last long though, he looked so good with his lips plumped, the tiniest of the smirks still proudly on them, you just couldn’t help yourself and launched yourself at him.
You backed him against the wall, moaning when you felt his tongue entering your mouth. Tom placed both of his hands on your ass, squeezing it before asking, “Bedroom?” Without breaking the kiss, you pointed in the direction of your room and before you knew it, he was carrying you in his arms. You squealed, wrapping your legs around his torso, before going back to his lips. He placed you on the bed, making a trail of kisses from your neck, all the way to your stomach. Once he positioned himself between your tights, he looked at you with his bright brown eyes, asking if he could take your dress off. You nodded and after a little bit of a struggle, he took the thin material out of your body, leaving you in just a pair of white underwear. “You’re so beautiful!” He whispered, going back to your lips and attacking them with kisses. “Tom, please…” You moaned, growing even more eager to feel him. “What do you want, darling?” He smirked, loving seeing you like that. “You, I want you!” With a shake on your voice, you pleaded and he finally took the clue and went to work.
After another confirmation from you, he discarded your panties, tracing his fingers through your now soaked folds. “You look amazing, y/n!” Tom breathed before going straight to your core. You let out a moan as soon as his lips touched you, making your whole body shake with pleasure. “And tastes amazing too!” He purred, focusing on his task. Your moans only grew louder when he pushed two of his slender fingers on your heat. “Fuck, Tom! Feels so good!” You blurted, not being able to control yourself. “That’s it, baby! I can feel your walls clenching around my fingers. Tell me how much do you wanna cum.” Tom whispered, making you clench even more, only by his words. “Wanna cum, Tom! Please…” You were never this talkative in bed and not once has a guy been this dominant with you but you couldn’t say you weren’t enjoying it. “Cum for me, baby! Wanna hear you scream my name!” He mumbled and finally lost control. Your whole body shook with pleasure and you had to contain yourself from closing your thighs around Tom’s head.
Once you came back from your high, you opened your eyes to find Tom already looking at you, with some of your wetness still glistening on his chin. “You alright?” He asked, concern coating his words. “Yeah!” You smiled, before going back to his lips. With a quick move, you straddled him, helping him take off his shirt, letting his chest perfectly exposed for you. You lowered yourself, leaving a trail of kisses on his jaw, neck, collarbones, chest, each one of his abs, and finally, his perfectly sculpted v line. “Are you sure? You don’t have to, I’ll be perfectly fine by just giving...” You interrupted his mumbling by attaching your lips to his, hoping it would be his answer.
With the rest of his clothes discarded, you couldn’t help but admire his body. He was perfect. Sculpted by the gods, even. After wetting your hands, you took his cock, pumping a few times before attaching your lips to it. You twirled your tongue, tasting his precum, feeling him grow harder and harder on your hands. “Holy shit, you feel so good, y/n!” His words of encouragement were enough for you to start moving your head up and down, taking his member into your mouth inch by inch, until he was bucking his hips. “Fuck! You’re bloody amazing, darling!” He praised, while making direct eye contact with you, “But if you want more, you better stop before I coat your throat with my cum.” You had to admit, his dirty talk was doing something to you.
Releasing his cock with a loud pop, you climbed on top of him, kissing his lips. “Do you have a condom?” He asked between kisses. “Bedside table, first draw.” You answered and after a loud smack on your ass, you got off of him, both of you wearing playful smiles on your faces. Tom opened the foil package and rolled the material into his member, positioning himself at your entrance. “You sure you wanna do this?” He asked, making sure you wanted this as much as he did. “Yes, Tom! I want you to fuck me!” You said, kissing his lips.
With both of his hands on your hips and a huge smirk on his face, he pushed himself into you, making you moan. It took you a few seconds to get used to him and once you nodded, Tom started to move, bringing another level of pleasure to your body. “Fuck! You’re so tight around me, y/n!” He whispered, biting your earlobe. “Tom, fuck me harder!” You pleaded, wanting nothing more than to be railed by him. That seemed to take Tom by surprise but he was quick to obey your wish, thrusting harder and harder into your soaking wet core. “You look so beautiful like that, all sweaty, begging me for more!” He kept praising you, feeling how much you liked when he did.
With both of his arms by your head, he caged you, tattooing your face with kisses. “Feel so good, Tom! Please, make me cum!” You mumbled, by now barely able to form sentences. Tom was quick to obey and once his fingers found your clit, rubbing small circles in it, you were gone. Toes curling, you arched your back, getting a handful of the mattress in one hand while the other scratched Tom’s back. “Fuck, y/n!” With a final thrust of his hips, Tom reached his high, moaning your name like it was the most beautiful prayer.
He collapsed on top of you, leaving a long kiss on your lips, before getting up and tossing the condom on the trash. You went to the bathroom to clean yourself up, seeing as you were too tired to take a shower, and asked him if he wanted that too. He agreed and once you were decent enough, you put on clean panties and his discarded shirt, asking him to join you on the bed. Of course, he accepted, he wasn’t planning to go anywhere either so, after putting his boxers back on, he climbed on the bed with you.
You quickly doze off but right before you did, you admitted to yourself that, like most of the time, Briana was right, and going to that new club wasn’t a bad idea after all.

a/n: here we go, another pcos fic, bringing light to the subject of it, this whole thing is heavily heavily inspired by my experience of it so far, symptoms, diagnosis etc. thank you guys for all the love on these! 💖 going to start planning another one soon
“Tyler?” You asked sheepishly, a wavering tone in your voice, everything was coming to a head, you couldn’t ignore your body any longer, you had to go see a doctor, a different doctor, the last one brushed your words away. He looked up from his phone, “what’s wrong baby?” He could see the tears in your eyes, he threw his phone to the side, opening his arms for you. “Hey.” He mumbled, trying to figure out why you climbed into his lap and started crying, “Y/N, what is it?” He forced your head up so he could meet your eyes, you’d been together for a long time, you lived together, he knew the issues you were having but he didn’t understand the magnitude of them, how would he? He’s not a woman, he doesn’t know how your body should truly be working. “I can’t do this anymore, I need to go to a doctor.” You cried, it was stressing you out, which would most likely only be exasperating whatever issue you had. “What?” He tilted his head to the side, rubbing his thumbs across your cheeks to catch the tears. “This.” You groaned dramatically motioning to your lower half, he couldn’t help but laugh softly despite your tears, you pouted at him. “Tyler it’s not funny.” You snapped, but laughed at your childish explanation. “I know, it’s not, definitely not, but I’m a big boy you could say you have to go to the gynecologist.” He teased, smiling when you smiled. “I’m scared about what they’ll say.” You whispered, picking at your nails, “did you want me to go with you?” He questioned, making your head snap up. “Yes, please.” You answered instantly, pulling him in for a quick kiss. “Did you think I wouldn’t go with you?” He asked, faking hurt, but his eyes told you he was only joking. “I knew you would, but I didn’t want to ask.” You admitted, laughing softly at your handling of this. “You can ask me anything, don’t start keeping things from me now.” He muttered, tugging you down to lean against his chest. “Love you.” You whispered, chastely kissing his jaw from your spot resting on him. “Love you, babe.” He responded, leaving a lingering kiss to your forehead.
****
The day of your appointment was finally here, to say you were nervous was an understatement, and you could tell Tyler was silently anxious as well, probably feeding off of your nerves. But he also had zero clue what to expect, he knew nothing about this stuff. “Hey, calm down.” Tyler gripped your hand, watching the way you were bouncing your leg as you rode the elevator up, “I’m trying.” You complained, squeezing his hand as the doors opened, you stepped out, pulling him along behind you. Tyler stayed silently glued to your side, listening as you checked in with the receptionist, not missing the way you sighed softly when she handed you a giant clipboard of new patient paperwork. He followed you to a seat in the waiting room like a lost puppy, “I hate this.” You muttered, starting to scribble down all your info, he chuckled from beside you, resting a reassuring hand on your knee. Occasionally he would read a question over your shoulder and make a face, silently being confused by why that even related to this.
“Date of last period?” The question made you ponder, you eventually had to go and check your phone, shocked to see how long it really had been. You wrote the date down, frowning at the fact that it had been four months, the irregularities shocking you. Tyler saw the way you froze, and glanced down at the paper, he sighed softly kissing your cheek. “It’s gonna be fine.” He assured you, looking around at how many pregnant women were here, “wait, you’re not-“ “oh, no, I’m not don’t worry.” You cut him off with a laugh, you knew they would do a test anyways, but you went through quite a few of your own already, the problem with the irregular periods, you often got worried by the what if’s. Not that you’d be sad if you were pregnant, you’ve always wanted kids, it’s just not the right time.
Finally you finished the paper work and turned it in, sitting back down beside Tyler and waiting for your name to be called. “So, like, what are they going to do?” He questioned, sheepishly, pink tint running up his neck. You shrugged, “depends, she might do an exam, she might just send me for an ultrasound.” You sighed, thinking of the last time you went to a gynecologist, you were young, only seventeen, it was terrible, the doctor brushed aside everything you were saying. Tyler nodded, pursing his lips together, “ok.” He shrugged, all he knew was he was going to be beside you the whole time. “Y/N Y/L/N.” They called, you stood up quickly, Tyler following behind you. “How’re you?” The nurse asked, “good, thanks.” You answered, Tyler smiled softly. “First we’ll get your weight, and then I’ll show you where the bathroom is so you can leave a sample.” She explained, you handed Tyler your bag, and kicked your sandals off, stepping onto the scale, you’d gained some weight, you always had an issue controlling it, but Tyler on many occasions, would assure you that it didn’t matter and you always looked beautiful to him. He knew it bothered you, but he would always do anything he could to assure you it didn’t matter, all that mattered was that you were healthy, which you were, your weight never posed an issue for you in that sense. “Write your name on the cup, and leave it in the metal cabinet when you’re done.” She smiled, pointing to the bathroom, Tyler awkwardly stayed standing next to her, shifting on his feet as you trudged to the bathroom. She laughed softly at him, “you men never handle these places well.” She teased softly, you couldn’t help but laugh as you shut the bathroom door. Tyler let out a breathy laugh in response, if they continued speaking after that you couldn’t hear them from inside the bathroom.
You sat up on the exam table, Tyler sitting in the seat beside it, the nurse looked over the paper, but still asked, “what brings you in today?” God how you hated that question, why make you fill out the paper work if they were going to ask you again anyways. “I had a cyst a few years back, I’d been going to a doctor but she wasn’t really doing much, so I kind of just stoped going.” You admitted. “My periods are also really irregular.” You added, watching as she scribbled it down for you. Tyler’s eyes bounced between her and you, “are you sexually active?” She asked, her back turned to you, so she didn’t see the small smirk Tyler shot you. “Yes.” You answered, shooting your boyfriend a glare. “Sorry.” He mouthed, sinking into the chair. “Alright, the doctor will be in shortly.” And with that she was gone, leaving you to jokingly glare at Tyler. “Such a perv.” You teased him, he rolled his eyes, “that was a stupid question.” He retorted, “she’s just doing her job.” You sighed, shifting on the table, nerves rushing through you, thankfully though, the doctor appeared in no time at all.
You explained to her everything that you’ve been going through. She asked some questions, and nodded everytime you answered. “I want to send you for an ultrasound to check for any cysts, but I’m going to say you most likely have pcos.” She told you, and your heart dropped for a moment, you’d heard so much about it, and you knew it wasn’t the end of the world, but you knew it wasn’t entirely treatable, and you knew when the day came that you and Tyler were ready to expand your family, it wouldn’t be easy. “What does that mean?” Tyler spoke up, leaning forward as he listened intently, had you not also been wanting to hear everything she said, you’d have taken a moment to stare at him in awe of how concerned he was. “Polycystic ovarian syndrome, basically, every month when you have your cycle, the ovaries get little cysts on them, that’s normal, but they’re supposed to go away every month with your period. Now sometimes they’ll stick around for another month, get slightly larger and then go, but because of the irregularities you’re having, they’re most likely continuing to get larger. The ultrasound will confirm that, as for treatment, the only thing really I can recommend is birth control to stabilize your periods.” She explained, looking back and forth between you and Tyler. You’d never started birth control when you were younger, you hadn’t really been with anyone long enough to be concerned about it until you met Tyler, and then it never really became an issue for you two, you were always careful, and with how irregular you were you knew the chances of getting pregnant were slim. “Okay.” Is all you could say, “let’s do that then.” You added, looking to Tyler who only nodded, he wasn’t going to tell you what to do and what not to do.
Luckily though they were able to squeeze you in for an ultrasound right now, so they whisked you off, Tyler was more than welcome to go with you, and you tried cautioning him against it. But he refused to listen and went with you, turning pale when he saw the ultrasound wand. You laughed softly when he rested his head in his hands, not wanting to watch when they did it. “I told you to stay outside.” You chastised him, knowing this would make him queasy, he may be a tough guy on the ice, but off the ice he was easily startled. “Shush, I’m trying to be supportive.” He mumbled, grabbing your hand when you winced slightly, a frown covering his face, “that hurt?” The radiologist questioned, “tender.” You answered, squeezing his hand harder when she turned the wand. She made a knowing sound, continuing with a soft apology. When she finished and removed the wand, Tyler made the horrible mistake of looking up before she cleaned it. He went wide eyed and turned to look at you when he saw a small bit of blood on the top of it. You giggled as you sat up, keeping the paper over your lap until she left so you could get redressed. “I’m sorry that it hurt you.” He muttered, handing you your pants. You shrugged it off, “it’s alright bub.” You kissed him quickly, buttoning up your pants, stepping out of the room, once again him following you slowly.
***
What felt like an eternity later, you were looking up as the doctor walked back in, and you were so grateful to have Tyler by your side, holding your hand as she started off, “your uterus looks great, so does your left ovary, but on the right ovary you have two simple cysts, they’re exactly what they sound like, they’re the normal cysts you get but they’ve just grown. One of them is about 4 centimeters,” she paused, making a circle with her fingers, you nodded, “and then the other one is 8 centimeters.” She widened her finger and you inhaled sharply. She nodded slowly, a soft reassuring smile on her face, “since we’re going to start the birth control, I want you to come back in six weeks for a follow up, and if it hasn’t started going down in size, we’re going to want to think about possibly doing a surgery.” You gasped softly at her words, she handed you a tissue as your eyes welled up. “It’s alright, it’s very common, it would be laparoscopic.” She explained, glancing to Tyler who had slid his chair closer to you, “but of course, I have to tell you there’s always the chance that when we go in there, something could go wrong or it is worse than we initially thought, there’s a chance we would have to remove the whole ovary.” You started tuning her out as she went onto the whole spiel she had to give about how you would still be able to have kids but it would be harder.
“Y/N.” Tyler spoke softly, snapping you from your thoughts, “I’ll see you in six weeks alright? Don’t worry about it.” The doctor assured you, stepping out of the room. Tyler went to speak but you shook your head, “I just want to schedule my appointment, and leave.” You knew if you spoke anymore you’d lose it, and it was stupid really, because these were all what if’s, but it was so easy to think worst case scenario.
You sat in the car, and all it took was Tyler grabbing your hand for you to lose it, in the parking lot of your doctors office as you thought of everything that could go wrong, instead of everything that could go right. “Baby, it’s okay.” He mumbled, doing his best to comfort you over the center console, you nodded as you cried. “I know, I just want to know, I hate waiting.” You mumbled, sniffling when you leaned back, “get over here.” He gasped teasingly, pulling you in for a kiss, holding your face in his hands, not letting you go until you started to laugh against him. “That’s much better.” He grinned, seeing the cheeky smile on your face. “It’s going to be alright, no matter what happens. I’ll be there with you.” He assured you, “but practice starts in a couple of weeks.” You whispered, keeping your eyes locked on his, practice was starting to kick into high gear soon. “I’ll figure it out, don’t worry about that, you need me here, I’ll be here.”

a kiss out of envy or jealousy 😳😳
i’ve gotten too many requests asking for a jealousy kiss so i stayed up til 4:30am to write this!! pls forgive the spelling/grammar cuz i am literally sleeping rn
send me more prompts!!
Loud bustling sound of classical music flowed through the tannenbaum wedding. The warm haze of the sunlight escaped behind the buildings in Blue Valley as the small string lights made their presence known. Sweet smell of foreign roses and tiny cakes breezed past Beth as she stood near the alter. She had always wanted the classic wedding but the heroism put a dent in those plans. The flowers patterned her flowy blue dress as she heard a familiar voice behind her.
“Elizabeth Chapel, haven’t seen you in a couple years!”
Beth turns to see who it belongs to and immediately recognizes her childhood friend, Dean Harrison.
“Well yeah cuz you moved away to Germany after fifth grade,” her voice bold as ever, “how have you been, Dean?”
“Good actually yanno I’ve had time to adjust after what like 5 years but enough about me, are u doing good in Blue Valley and all?” He had the same chipper mannerism as her.
“Of course!! Blue Valley isn’t the same without you but the town has adapted to the absence of your beaming smile,” Beth held her wide smile and started catching up with her old friend.
Quiet footsteps reach where Beth stood and stopped behind her, giving her a soft nudge. She turned mid conversation to see Rick holding the drink she was waiting for. He put them down on the tall ledge beside the altar they were standing beside.
The tall blonde haired stranger spoke to Beth in a suspiciously friendly way. Well, everyone spoke to Beth in the kindest tone but this guy was ticking all the boxes on Rick’s Red Flag Checklist. He said sweet words to her and made her smile, maybe that’s why Rick disliked him.
The stranger responded to Beth’s optimistic remarks, “wow big words coming from the Blue Valley’s brightest smile champion.” Rick watched the two sync up in their amusement.
“There was a competition for the best smile?” Rick let his tone gain some edge as he questioned the other boy.
“Well yeah it was an inside joke Beth and I had when we were practically babies,” Dean said still laughing along with Beth.
That stupid laugh checked another one of Rick’s boxes and he felt the annoyance take over.
Regaining herself from the laughter, she spoke for the first time since Rick showed up, “ we were seven, Dean and it wasn’t even a real competition!”
“Ouch,” Dean says as he fake stabs his fist into his heart, “that really hurts, how could you hurt me like that?” Goddamn his laugh was starting to bug Rick.
“Woooow you were always the dramatic one,” said Beth as she joked around with the foreign friend she once knew.
“Yes that’s because you were always so realistic and needed some fun sarcasm,” he laughed and put a hand on Beth’s shoulder to balance the two of them as they continued to laugh.
Rick felt the heat burning up in his chest, just watching some other guy hold on to Beth the way he always wanted to. When she asked him to come to her aunt’s wedding, he let himself believe it would be the moment they fall for each other. Beth’s platonic wording didn’t stop him from deluding himself. He would go anywhere with Beth as long as he was with Beth.
The slow anger fizzled around in Rick’s mind as he sighed along to the stranger’s colourful words. Rick clearly did not come here for the food or the beautiful ceremony so when the one reason he was here for was flirting with some dude, he was sure as hell upset. Knowing Beth, this was just a casual conversation to her but to that nameless guy, she was probably the sweetest person to exist. Wasn’t she just the sweetest to everyone though?
She snapped him out of his lovelorn looks with a quick introduction. Although, Rick just wanted to act polite and hold a solid conversation, his rage got the best of him. He let a few sarcastic comments slip into the conversation and not-so-patiently waited for this Dan dude to walk away. Realizing how weirdly protective he got over his best friend, he calmed himself by taking a few sips from his drink.
Just couldn’t stop himself from stealing glances and wanting to speak in sweet melodies to the wonderful human sunshine. The love struck emotion is the least familiar to Rick Tyler but the sound of Beth’s voice made him want nothing more than to dance away the night. He shivered at simple thought of her ever returning those feelings that drive him wild. All he wants is to just steal her away from the lights of this romantic lighting and pull her into the steamiest kiss.
“Hey Rick, you ready to go?” Beth’s delicate voice makes him realize he zoned out again.
“Uh yeah sure, let’s get you home,” he muttered, letting his hand slip around her shoulders.
•~•
Needless to say, they do not end up home. They left the dancing strangers and fairy lights of the wedding behind. They walk lazily on to the Blue Valley bridge as Beth tells some silly anecdote with Rick’s suit hugging her shoulders. His hand still lay around her as they both stumble around the little sidewalk on the bridge overlooking the suburbs.
Beth switches the conversation to small talk, “the wedding was actually really sweet and the little flower centrepieces were matching the bride’s dress and it was all so detailed.”
“Uh yeah weddings are great,” Rick’s less than enthusiastic tone threw her off.
“Rick is something bothering you?”
“No I’m just tired from all that dancing.”
She throws him a classic pleading look, which is all it really takes for him to confess his inner monologue.
“Actuality Beth, I have to tell you something,“ he starts, hesitantly.
“You’re not the biggest fan of Dean, I get it he can be quite the optimist”
“Um no that’s not my problem with him”
“Then what it is ?”
Rick struggles to tell her the real reason he wants to practically never see Dean ever again. He settles for a generic answer to stop Beth from questioning him further.
“Forget it Beth, doesn’t matter anyways”
She takes stops walking and let’s him face her. The curiosity was gonna bug her until he was honest with her.
“Wait i don’t wanna forget it if it’s clearly bothering you,” her voice was serious and a little nervous.
“Just drop it Beth,” his voice was just serious.
“Yanno passive aggressiveness can’t be your solution to not talking about your feelings,” she said as she stood on the bridge facing the man she thought would be honest with her.
“It doesn’t matter,” Rick said dismissively.
“Rick, I don’t want you to have to keep ur feelings hidden deep inside. At least not around me,” Beth’s kind voice was the only sound he ever wanted to hear.
Rick just looks at her w lovelorn eyes but his lips slip out a different tone, “can we not talk about this anymore I’m sick of telling you how I feel all the time.” The harshness in his words never reflected how he felt about her. He never wanted to taint her perfect brightness with his dark inner horrors.
Eyes twitching and lips pursing, she said, “you know what Rick, I am SICK OF YOU SCREAMING ALL THE TIME!” Beth clearly got the memo and let her anger come out.
“WELL IM SICK OF U THINKING U CAN JUST GET IN MY WAY AND CALM ME DOWN,” Rick’s volume matched hers as he took a step forward.
“WELL IM SICK OF U GETTING SO CLOSE ONLY TO PUSH ME AWAY!” Another step closer than they had been before.
“YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE IM SICK OF BETH?” his voice tunes down, mirroring the beat of his heart, “the way you don’t feel the same about me.”
That was it. Every single emotion Rick had ever felt about Beth was just out there, lingering in the air and hanging over his head.
She takes a minute to process the words he just breathed so close to her lips. Cursing their subconscious mirroring of small steps that brought them so close together, Beth looked at him. She couldn’t take the heat of the moment anymore. She needed to release the tension and his angry lips were just so close to hers.
Beth collides their lips together and feels the rage in his words slip away. All the feigned anger led up to what was the most comforting yet frenzied moment. Slowly tracing her hands along the back of his neck, she feels his hands find her hips.
She knew those heated exchange of words didn’t come from a place of anger. Beth just couldn’t sense where they were coming from but did that really matter when her lips left his just so they can both catch up with their heart. She let his forehead gently fall on to hers.
“Rick I didn’t...” slowly murmuring as she trails off with her forehead still on his.
“I hate the way Dave was looking at you and the way you laughed along to his dumb jokes,” he blurts out realizing it was his only chance to let her know.
Beth’s mind was just racing at the same pace as her heart, knowing only his lips could make her feel that way.
“And I know I have no right to tell you who to talk to cuz that’s a dick move,” he just continues to speak as he holds onto her waistline.
Beth sorta just chuckles to herself and moves her head away from his to look at him for the first time since their kiss. The confusion took over his face as she began to explain.
“I’m not laughing at you,” she composes herself and continues, “well maybe i am but more so at the fact that you’re jealous!”
Rick’s eyes bring out that signature saddening anger when he hears her voice speak the words he couldn’t. Reluctantly, he pulls away from her hold on his neck and tries to find the words to explain.
“I just don’t like Dan,” he stutters out an answer.
“I don’t care abt him, also his name his Dean,” she places her hands on his jawline with a reassuring touch.
“I kissed you, Rick,” she lets her eyes emphasize the statement and her head nods slightly as she spoke to let him know she really meant it.
The fall air breezes past them as Rick contemplates her words, he bites the edge of his lips and does what he knew should’ve done a while ago.
Rick closed the space between their lips but a lot more delicately than she had. His hands had already memorized the exact place on her hips she liked them to be after the first kiss.
The way Beth felt their bodies fall into the same rhythm amused her. Letting her hands find their way into his dark wavy hair, she’s make those small twist to keep her balance.
It didn’t take long for them to understand the wild bursts of energy they spewed at each other was just from holding in all the unrequited feelings. If it hadn’t been for her unlikely bravery, he would still be getting lost in her words instead of the sweetness of her lips. So maybe Rick is glad he agreed to Beth’s proposition to go to some cliche storybook wedding as friends. And so it goes, those two are no longer friends.

As soon as you leave your house, you start to dash towards your high school, Karasuno. You couldn’t wait a minute longer. As much as high school burned you out, it was the only chance to see your friends, since her older brother was too overprotective because of the reasons...but that isn’t the time to be thinking that!
Making it to the high school, you started to look around for at least a friend to chat with.
Where in the world is-
“Boo!”
Snapping your neck, you turn around to see her best friend, Kailee. A wave of relief leaves your body as you start to hug her friend.
“Don’t ever do that again, please.”
Kailee returned the hug before turning to you with a playfully smile. “Why not?”
“Oh? What’s this?”
Both you and Kailee immediately sighed before turning around to see Kailee’s ex boyfriend, Chris, and his henchmen, Tyler, Cameron, and Stefan. Chris raised his eyebrow and looked at both girls with a sly smile. “I can tell both of you, really have been staying fit and cute.”
Kailee was the first to reply. “First off, your pickup lines are terrible, but thank you so very much for the compliment. Second, are you seriously asking your ex girlfriend, that you cheated on, and her best friend to even spend a second with you!? Get to the point you disgusting raven.”
Chris raised his hands as if he was surrending. “Woah! I was only joking, K!”
Kailee glared at him while you raised an annoyed eyebrow at him. Chris began to laugh and get closer to the both of you. “But you two are really beautiful, you know that right? Anyways, I was only wondering if we had the same dorm as myself, or any of my pals.”
Dorms? At a high school? Is this guy really that stupid?
Kailee laughed. “Dorms at a high school!? Are you serious!? This isn’t college, as if you’d even make it in a college.”
Chris chuckled. “Well, if I’m truly the stupid one, maybe you two birdies should check the office. They have your new schedules as well as your new dorm rooms. We aren’t gonna attend Karasuno because it’s being remodeled, so the school decided to throw all of its students to an even bigger campus with a bunch of other schools. There will be about four people pre dorm. So, do you believe me now?”
Kailee was stunned as well as yourself. “He could be true, but he could also be lying...” Kailee mumbled.
You looked over to her and smiled. “We should check just in case, okay?”
Kailee nodded, and without wasting another second, she began to make her way to the office, you followed her before being stopped by Chris.
“Wait. I know I don’t have a chance with Kailee again, but you.” He looked you up and down and a grin formed. “I just might.” He leaned in and your instincts kicked in.
You pulled your hand away, causing you to fall to the ground. You glared at him and placed your hand over to where he grabbed you. “Why in the world would you think I’d ever go out with a guy as disgusting as you!? You were my best friend’s ex, who you cheated on, and now you want me to be your next girlfriend!? Hell no.”
Chris glared back to you before leaving with his henceman close behind him. You rolled your eyes before getting up, without realizing it, someone came up to you.
“Are you alright?”
“Ya, I’m-”
Just realizing who was helping you up, you began to freeze up. It was Yū Nishinoya. You two weren’t all that buddy buddy, however, both of you knew that the other did exist.
“O-oh, I’m fine...” Picking yourself up, you looked at him and smiled. “Thanks.”
Nishinoya nodded and gave you the thumbs up. “Your welcome, y/n. I’m glad to have been of service.”
You chuckled at his kindness before blurting out a question. “So, who is in your dorm?” You covered your mouth almost instantly after saying the words.
Nishinoya blinked before smiling. “Don’t worry, I don’t mind. I actually just got the information about it a few minutes ago. I was just about to the office but then I saw you being harrassed by Chris and his gang of ravens. If you haven’t already, or don’t mind, would you like to come with me to the office?”
You smiled softly. “Of course! I haven’t gotten my schedule or dorm room either. Let’s go!”
Tumblr media
Making it to the office, you find Kailee talking to the office ladies and thanking them for the papers. Kailee made eye contact with you and made her way to you. “Guess what! I have dorm room 102! Can’t you believe it? Apparently they said that one other student from Karasuno is staying there as well as one student from Nekoma! I’m so excited! Hurry up and get yours!”
You laughed before entering the office with Nishinoya at your side. One of the office ladies noticed both you and Nishinoya and smiled. “Hello! Last names, please.”
“L/n.” You said.
One of the office ladies came up to you with a smile. “Follow me please.”
You exchanged a glance with Nishinoya before following. The office lady lead you over to the back. There lad a bunch of papers. She began to pick a few of them up before handing them to you. “Here you go! You have dorm room 102. You’ll be sharing that dorm with another student from here and a student from Nekoma. As for your schedule, you’ll have math first period. English second, history third, science four and your two electives as fifth and sixth.”
The office lady lead you back to the doors where Nishinoya was still at. The office lady looked over to you and smiled. “Thank you, have a great day!”
You hurried over to the doors before being stopped by Nishinoya. “Wait for me, okay?” You nod before actually leaving the office.
There stood Kailee and surprisingly, Kōshi Sugawara, Shōyō Hinata, and Tobio Kageyama. You waved to them and began to walk to them. Kailee was the first to ask about your dorm room and classes.
“Well I have math first, english second, history third, then science and my electives.” You explained.
Kailee pouted. “Nothing but math and sixth period, since I know both of us have art class...”
“At least we will be able to go to the same class together and return back to our dorms at the end of the day.” You grinned.
Kailee brightened. “Are you saying...!”
“Yep! I have dorm 102!” You hugged Kailee and she hugged you back tightly.
Suga began to laugh. “Well, you two aren’t the only ones here. I will be in your english class, y/n.” Suga smiled.
You nodded at Suga before hearing Nishinoya from behind. “Hey! What’s all of your classs?”
Thinking it’s better to just show him, you and everyone there gave Nishinoya their schedules. After a while, he gleamed. “So I have math, history and art with you, y/n. And I have science with Hinata and Kailee, I have math, science and art. And I have nothing with Kageyama. Okay! I’m fine with this!”
Suga chuckled. “So what’s your dorm room, Nishinoya? I have 98. Hinata and Kageyama both have 75, Kailee and y/n have 102.”
Nishinoya checked. “I have 101. Apparently, I have one person from Nekoma, and two others from Fukurōdani Academy.”
You closed one eye as if you got hurt. “Ooo, so you were set up from the beginning. I hope you can cope with that...”
Nishinoya blew it off. “Of course I can!” He grinned.
Suga laughed. “Well, I have to get going. See you all next week.”
You nod with Kailee waving goodbye to all the guys. She looked over and grinned. “Do you think our roommate with me a totally hottie, or a totally bitch?”
You laugh nervously. “I hope they are a good person...”
Kailee pats your shoulder. “You worry too much! C’mon, since school is technically over, let’s head to my house! I’ll treat you to my famous rice balls! And we can play volleyball!”
As much as you wanted too, you knew if you didn’t return to your house, you’d get in trouble from your older brother. “Thanks for the offer Kailee, but you know my brother, he wouldn’t let me.”
Kailee sighed. “Well he’d better live with it because you are gonna spend the rest of the school year living in a dorm.”
She walked away waving goodbye and without even realizing it, you knew she was right, you had to tell him that you were gonna spend the rest of the school year in a dorm...away from home...
This isn’t gonna end well...
You swallowed and began to walk home...

It Had To Be You XXXII
Chapter Thirty Two: Start Again
Tumblr media
Summary: "You hadn’t realized how much you’d missed Tyler’s annoying sleeping habits until you hadn’t been around it for a few months. But now that it was back, you laughed when he would wake himself up and roll your eyes when he’d blame you for it all.”
Warning: I honestly don’t think there’s anything; like not even angst 😮
Author’s Note: I missed writing about Christmas guys. December was a crazy month and Christmas came and went in the blink of an eye. I’m gonna be completely honest, I don’t remember when I posted by last chapter of this series but it was sometime in early November I think so we’re just gonna jump right to New Year’s Day and this one will be relatively short because it’s just a fluff piece. I’ll try to stay up to date but like I always do, I’ve got about 10 things going at once so don’t hold your breath. That being said, asks are always open so send me your requests and I’ll get to them as fast as I can! HAPPY NEW YEAR’S EVERYONE!

After you and Tyler made up, you couldn’t stand to be away from him. You wanted to get back to how you and Tyler used to be, so you spent as much time together as you could; practices, games, dinners, date nights, etc. What you really wanted, though, was just to wake up next to him as many times as you could. You hadn’t realized how much you’d missed Tyler’s annoying sleeping habits until you hadn’t been around them for a few months. But now that they were back, that you were back to hear them, you laughed when his snoring would wake him up and you’d roll your eyes when he’d blame you for it all. You knew that after last night, he’d needed a good sleep before the Winter Classic
“So...” you whispered to Tyler as he slowly woke up, “what’s the plan for today?” He opened one eye and looked at you, smiling when he saw you staring back at him
“Well I have to get to practice pretty soon,” he said, pulling you close to him, “and you’re coming with me.” You smiled before kissing the tip of his nose, nuzzling your face into his chest shortly after
“Hmm, I thought I was just going to the game,” you admitted, “you know, so you could focus?”
“No, no. I want you at practice too” he answered
“You sure?” you asked, not looking up at him just yet but feeling him nod his head against yours, “okay.. you know I’ll go anywhere for you”
“That’s what I like to hear” he laughed and you finally pulled your head away from his chest to look at his smile that you knew would be spread across his face. You slowly grazed your finger across his bottom lip before bringing him in for a kiss
“I love you, Tyler” you said
“I love you too, (Y/N)” he whispered, squeezing you tightly before letting out a big sigh and heading for the shower, making sure to offer you a spot in the shower with him.
“No thanks babe, I’ll let you get ready on your own.”
xx
You sat down next to the other girlfriends and felt a tinge of anxiety run through you before Katie stepped in beside you
“Relax,” she said with a smile, “they really won’t bite. Plus, they grow on you.”
“Katie!” you exclaimed, wrapping her in a hug, “oh my god I’ve missed you! You have no idea how happy I was to hear that you and Jamie were back together”
“You and me both” she laughed. The two of you watched the game, listening to some of the crowd swear while others just cheered drunkenly at the guys on the ice; you and Katie just laughing the entire time. When Jamie scored, Katie practically knocked your drink out of your hand when she jumped up and you did the same when Tyler followed shortly after but the last five minutes of the game had both you and Katie biting your nails. It was too close to call with the clock ticking so slowly, you couldn’t bear to watch
“No no don’t look away now!” Katie screamed, “what if Ty gets the puck? You have to watch!”
“This is why I don’t come to the games, I can’t watch when it gets this close!” you replied but you trained your eyes back to the ice just in time to watch as Tyler got the puck and raced toward the net. You stood up and cheered with the crowd as the puck flew from Tyler’s stick, hitting the back of the net. You caught his eye quickly before his line-mates rushed him for a celebration but he made sure to find your eyes again and point you out, making your cheeks flush bright pink.
xx
Tyler’s P.O.V.
This was all you had wanted; seeing her in the stands cheering you on, feeling like she belonged there. Winning the games without her there always felt hollow because, once the guys were gone, you had no one to celebrate with. So, when you got the puck in the last minute of the game, you were thinking of her; making that goal for her, getting that win for her. It was always about her. Seeing her after the game felt like the best thing in the entire world.
“Ty!” she screamed as she ran into your arms, legs wrapping around your waist immediately before her hands grasped either side of your neck to bring your lips closer to hers. It wasn’t long before you heard whistling coming from behind you but you were too caught up in the kiss and (Y/N) to care. “I think I should start coming to these games more often,” she joked, “they’re kind of exciting.”
“Is that right?” you nodded as a big smile grew on your face
“Just a little” she reciprocated the smile on your face with her own and moved her hands to play with your loose curls, “can we go home now?” She whispered in your ear and you nodded excitedly, putting her back onto the ground gently.
  “Just let me say goodbye”
“I’m sure they don’t need you to say goodbye right now. You’ll see them later...” She said as your back was turned and she squeezed your hand to get you to look at her, noticing the slight flush of pink on her cheeks and the darkness in her eyes begin to form.
“You’re right. Okay,” you agreed hastily, wrapping your arms around her waist from behind and speaking lowly in her ear, “I’ve missed this baby”
“Hmm, well if you’re not stupid,” she smiled before turning her head to you, “you won’t miss any of it ever again.”

Best Part of Me -Chapter 18
Warnings: none

Tumblr media
“Mommy is going to be really mad,” TJ laments from the backseat as they pull into the driveway. “Is that why she didn’t come and get me? Because she’s mad?”
“She’s just tired,” Tyler assures him, as he kills the ignition. “She needs sleep.  Having a baby is hard work. And your sister is only three weeks old. Still new.”
“She’s going to be so pissed,” the five-year-old sounds as if he may cry. “She doesn’t like when I get in fights. When I’m bad at school.”
“I think she’s going to understand why you go into this fight. Once you tell her everything and...”
“I can’t tell her! That’ll just make things even worse. Can’t you just tell her I wasn’t feeling well and had to come home?”
“I don’t think that’s going to work, mate. Have you seen your face?”
“That’s going to make her even more mad!” he cries, and then promptly bursts into tears.
Normally he’s the strong, stoic one; very rarely showing even the slightest hint of sadness. Even as a baby he rarely cried, not even for a wet diaper or out of hunger.  At three he’d adopted the habit of cracking jokes –even at his own expense- when he felt the threat of tears coming on.   Rage and frustration are his two main negative emotions; easily going from laughing and smiling to angry and intense.   Possessing a hair trigger temper that’s bad enough on an adult, but extremely troubling and almost terrifying on a little kid.
“She’s not going to be mad,” Tyler assures him. “She might be mad at the kids that messed you up but...”
“I messed them up worse!” TJ snaps, as if offended anything other than victory had been suggested or expected. “Don’t forget that part! I handed them their asses!”
“...but she isn’t going to be mad at you,” his father calmly continues.
Snapping back or letting his own anger or frustration show will do nothing. Other than encourage the kid to escalate his own behavior.  It had been a hard thing to learn; not to immediately react when TJ begins acting out. Handling it emotionally and letting his own temper take over just to makes things even worse. According to the therapist, anyway.
“Redirect not escalate”, he can hear her say. “Kids like this need patience and understanding. Not judgement and punishment.”  He’d thought it was bullshit at first. That not punishing bad behavior only encouraged it to get worse. It’s how he’d spent his own childhood, after all.  Until it had been drilled into his head that there was nothing normal about the way he’d grown up and he needed to ‘break the cycle’.
“You don’t know that!” TJ argues. “That mommy won’t be mad!”
“I’ve known her longer than you have. I know her a bit better. I know what makes her mad and sets her off. I’m a master at pissing her off.  And I know she won’t be mad at you. She's going to be a little sad when she sees what your face looks like.”
“That’s even worse! I don’t want mommy to make mommy sad!”
He cries even harder now. Arms folded across his chest, chin tucked into his chest and his eyes closed; entire body shaking with the force of his sobs. If there’s one thing that he is sensitive about, it’s his mother. No one upsets his mother on his watch.  And if they dare raise their voice to her or look at her with even the slightest bit of threat in their eyes, he’s the one jumping to her defense.   Tanner fits the typical ‘mommy’s boy’ stereotype, but TJ will fuck someone up if they mess with her.
Tyler kills the ignition and waits; giving his son a few minutes to get all the tears and emotions out. He knows better than to even attempt to offer any form of support or comfort, whether it be verbal or physical; the kid hates feeling as if someone is pitying him or seeing him as weak and it will only send him into a blind rage. So he gives TJ the chance to work things out on his own; occasionally glancing at him through the rearview mirror, holding off until the sobbing subsides and the five-year-old gives a long, shaky sigh and then uses the front of his t-shirt to wipe his face.
“You good?” He asks.
TJ nods.
“You wanna go in? See mommy? Tell her what happened?”
“You won’t leave, right? You’ll stay when I tell her?”
“I’ll stay right with you. What do you think she’s going to do to you?”
“Nothing. But I don’t want her to be sad. I hate when mommy’s sad. And she won’t be sad if you’re there.”
He wants to tell him that he’s made mommy sad plenty of times. More than he likes to admit. That he’s made her cry too many times to count and regrets every single tear she’s shed because of him or over him. But he doesn’t; burdening kids with adult problems solves nothing. It only causes more issues. And they have enough of those to deal with.
“Let’s clean you up a bit,” Tyler suggests, as he slides from behind and wheel and steps out, popping open the back door of the truck and reaching for TJ’s backpack. “You got clean clothes in here?”
“I think so. Mommy always remembers to put some in.”
“Good thing one of us has our shit together, yeah? Go in the garage,” he instructs, as he unbuckles the straps on the booster seat and then wraps one arm around his son’s slender body, helping him down to the ground. He’s tall for five; long and lanky, yet solid and strong.  “I’ll clean you up in there. That way you look a bit better when mommy sees you.”
“Okay,” TJ agrees, bare feet slapping against the cement of the driveway, stopping momentarily to scoop up that day’s newspaper that the delivery boy had tossed onto the grass, then throwing it at the front door.
Sighing, Tyler closes the truck doors and sets the alarm before joining his son in the garage, peeling off the blood and dirt stained t-shirt and locating the cleanest part possible; wetting in at the sink in the corner and then using it to clear away the dried blood from TJ’s face.
The kid never winces once; not even a single flicker or pain despite the often vigorous scrubbing or the fingertips that poke and prod as they investigate each injury.
“Is it broken?” TJ asks, when his dad presses on the sides of his nose.
“I don’t think so. I don’t think anything’s broken. Any missing teeth? Loose ones?”
“None missing. But...” he pauses as he uses the tip of his tongue to press against each tooth. “A couple loose ones.”
“They’re baby teeth. So they’ll just fall out and you won’t be gruesome toothless for long.”
“Now that’s mean,” TJ giggles, then immediately grows serious. “Am I going to get arrested? Are the police going to come here?”
“Why would the police come here?”
“Because I beat those kids up. I heard what Mrs. Tucker said. About it being assault. That’s a bad thing, right? That’s what police come for. Bad things.”
“You’re five. I think you’ll be able to escape an assault charge. And don’t listen to that stupid bitch.”
TJ’s eyes widen.
“And also don’t tell your mom I called her that.”
“She is though,” TJ concludes.
“A stupid bitch?”
He giggles. “Yeah.”
“The stupidest of bitches,” Tyler agrees, and then tosses the soiled shirt into the hamper before locating a clean one at the bottom of TJ’s school bag. “Feel better?” he asks, as he yanks the item of clothing over his son’s head. “Just a bit?”
TJ nods. “You know what would make me feel even better, though?”
Tyler arches an eyebrow.
“Ice cream.”
Grinning, he lays a hand on the back of his son’s head and gently pushes him towards the door. “Ice cream would make me feel a bit better too.”
***
“So what was it today?” Esme inquires, as she stands at the kitchen island; body swaying from side to side as she holds Addie along her arm, free hand flipping through a stack of mail. Not even glancing up when they step into the room. “Desk tipping? Chair throwing? Calling the teacher a stupid fat cow?”
“In his defense, I’m the one that actually called her that,” Tyler admits. “And it’s bit more than that.” He drops TJ’s school bag on one of the bar stools and then lays a hand on her hip and presses a kiss to her temple. “You might want to give me the baby.”
“Why?” she gives a small, almost nervous laugh, a scowl creeping across her face she looks up at him and sees the seriousness on his face. “It can’t be THAT bad?”
“Trust me on this,” he says, and she places the baby along his arm; Addie’s head nestling into the crook of his elbow.  Carrying her across the kitchen and giving a Declan a kiss on the top of his head as he sits snacking in his highchair before tossing open the freezer and taking out the ice cream.
“Mommy...” TJ begins, nervously rocking back and forth on his heels. “...don’t be mad.”
“Why would I...” her eyes widen when she looks at him; taking in the various cuts and bruises that inhabit his face and then rushing to him, kneeling in front of him with one hand on his shoulder, the other gently cupping his cheek.  “What happened? What the hell, Tyler?”
“He got into a fight,” her husband responds, as he places Addie in her swing by the sliding door. “No big deal.”
She frowns. “Not you. I wasn’t asking you.”
“You need to actually specify which one of us you’re speaking to when we’re both in the same room,” he reminds her. “Or neither of us will answer because we have no clue who you’re talking to.”
“I got into a fight,” TJ confirms, as she scoops him up and places him on the edge of the island.
“It looks more like someone used you as a punching bag.”
“He looks worse. Much worse. So do the other guys.”
“There was more than one?” Her fingers cautiously survey the damage, the cut across the bridge of his nose and the swelling under the left eye the most concerning.
TJ sticks his bottom between his teeth and nods.
“How many more?”
“A couple.”
“A couple?”
“Four,” he admits.
“Four kids? In your class?”
TJ looks to his father for moral support as he joins them, placing three spoons and three bowls of ice cream on the counter, then handing him an ice pack tucked under his arm.
“Eye,” Tyler gently orders. “It’ll keep the swelling down. And it was four older kids,” he says to his wife, remarkably calm and composed as he leans stomach first against the island and digs into the ice cream.
“How much older?” she asks.
“Grade four,” TJ answers.
She frowns. “You’re five.”
He shrugs. “I’m a bad ass,” he reasons.
Esme stares pointedly at her husband.
“What?” Tyler asks innocently. “Guess he’s got good genes.”
She sighs and turns back to her son. “You fought four kids?”
“I was really only fighting one kid,” TJ explains. “The others jumped me. So I fought them too.”
“All of them? At the same time?”
“And won,” Tyler says, and then shrugs when she glares at him. “Just sayin’.”
“You don’t seem the least bit upset about this,” she observes.
“Why would I be? My kid just took on four other kids and beat their asses. Why would I be upset? I’m proud of him.”
“Have you looked at his face?”
“He’s got a black eye, a split lip, a sore nose and a couple of loose teeth. They’ll fall out and his adult teeth will eventually come in. I don’t see the big deal. I’ve had worse.”
“You’re forty years old,” she points out. “And you used to...well...you know what used to do for a living. Of course you’ve had worse. He’s five!”
“And it won’t be the last time he gets a little messed up. It’s not a huge deal.”
“He could have a concussion,” she argues.
“He does not have a concussion. Did you hit your head?” Tyler directs the question to his son.
“Nope.”
“He doesn’t have a concussion,” he concludes, and returns to the bowl of ice cream in front of him.
“You can get punched hard enough to get a concussion,” Esme reminds him.
“I don’t know how hard you think grade fours hit, but it’s not hard enough to give him a concussion. Would you relax? He’s fine.”
“He doesn’t look fine. Do you have a headache?” she asks TJ.
Tyler sighs in exasperation. “Esme....here...” he pushes on the bowls in front of her. “...relax.”
She scowls. “We should take him to get looked at.”
He can’t help but laugh. “Why? He’s fine. He got into a fight. Stop making a big deal out of it. It won’t be the last fight he gets into, trust me. Millie’s always beating the hell out of him.”
“Why did you get into a fight in the first place?” Esme asks, as she combs her fingers through TJ’s thick, unruly hair and presses a kiss to his forehead.
“The one kid was picking on Tanner,” he explains, as he digs a spoon into the bowl of ice cream his father sets in his lap. “And it made Tanner cry. So I got pissed off and I told the kid to leave him alone. That he’s my brother and no one makes my brother cry.  NO ONE.”
Tyler gives a grin of pride and approval, then frowns when his wife digs her elbow into his ribs. “What? I didn’t say anything.”
“You didn’t have to,” she says. “I know what you’re thinking.”
“I’m thinking those little shits fucked with the wrong kid.”
“They deserved it mommy,” TJ pipes up. “They all deserved it. And I’d do it again to protect Tanner. To protect any kid against the bullies. Bad people should be punished for being bad, right? Like daddy used to punish them for hurting good people.”
“Okay, that’s not exactly how his job worked, but...” she sighs. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
“Mom...” he looks her dead in the eye, suddenly appearing –and sounding- much older and more mature than he is. “...I’m tough. Okay? You don’t have to worry about me. I’m fine.”
“You’re five. Not fifteen,” she reminds him, and then tousles hair. “You need to stop sounding so much like your dad.  It’s not a bad thing, it’s just...it makes me nervous. You go and take your ice cream outside so I can talk to daddy for a bit, okay?”
“Is he in trouble?”
“Probably,” Tyler grumbles.
“No one is in trouble. I just need to talk to him. About adult things. No little ears allowed. Got it?”
“Got it,” he agrees, and then jumps down form the island. “Am I grounded?”
“Not this time. You did the right thing. You stuck up for your brother and defended yourself. But you do not...I repeat DO NOT...go around starting fights. Ever. You don’t hit kids for no reason, you don’t pick on anyone, you don’t even look at someone the wrong way. Because you’re freakishly big and strong for a five-year-old and you’re going to seriously hurt someone. Now go outside, finish your ice cream, and then go and see Ovi and tell him he’s invited for dinner.”
“Okay,” TJ says, then gathers up his bowl and scurries away, cheerfully greeting Mac as he steps outside; the dog waking from his nap under the patio table and excitedly rushing to see his favorite little human.
****
“So....” Esme leans against the counter alongside her husband, scooping out a spoonful of ice cream and popping it into her mouth. “Did you kill anyone? Am I aiding and abetting a fugitive?”
“I behaved myself. No blood was shed. I promise.”
“What about tears? Did you make anyone cry? At least tell me you made someone cry. Or shit their pants. Both would be a bonus.”
“I might have made the principal cry. Or shit himself. I’m not sure. He wouldn’t even come out of his office. Totally threw the secretary under the bus.”
“Mrs. Tucker,” Esme scoffs. “That stupid bitch.”
Tyler grins. “Look at that. There ARE things we agree on.”
“She’s so condescending. Every time I go in there, she starts talking to me like I’m one of the students.”
“Well in her defense, you are smaller than most of the kids there,” he teases.
“Don’t make me take out my small people rage on you. I’ve spent thirty-five years not being able to reach the bottom of the washing machine or being able to get things off high shelves. I’ve got a lot of pent up anger over that shit, so don’t you start with me.”
“And you say I need anger management. Everyone thinks TJ gets it from me. I think we both know where he really gets it from.”
“I don’t think he got any of my DNA,” she frowns. “So did you? Make Mrs. Tucker cry? She’s terrified of you.”
“She was ballsy today. She actually tried to scold me. For my bad language.”
“How bad was your language?”
“First I called the other kid an asshole. Then I called him a little prick.”
“Normally I’d balk at calling kids names like that, but in this case, I think you were justified. She tried to scold you, huh?” Esme grins.  “That must have gone over well. Did you make her wet her pants? Did you give her ‘the look’?”
“Which look? I have about twenty.”
“More like forty. I’ve counted them.  But you know the one I’m talking about. Mille and the twins all have it. That one that clearly says you’re tired of someone’s shit and ready to show hands.”
“In that case, yes. I gave her ‘the look’.”
“And the principal never came out?”
“Nope.”
Esme snorts. “What a pussy!”
“I don’t know what his issue is. I’m not that scary.”
“Sure you’re not,” she laughs. “You’re so scary, Chuck Norris sleeps with a nightlight on.”
Tyler smirks. “Now that’s a good one.”
“So what they say? What’s the punishment?”
“They wanted to suspend him for four days. But I wouldn’t sign that papers until all the little pricks got in trouble too. Why is our kid the only one catching shit when all he was going was standing up for his brother? And defending himself when the other little fucks jumped him.”
“Think this is the elementary school version of the Goonies from hell?”
Tyler laughs at that. “That’s exactly what they are. The Australian version of Farhad and his buddies.”
“We have to find something to laugh about when it comes to Dhaka, right?”
He nods in agreement. “Secretary said the other parents will want an apology.”
“Fuck them.”
“And that they could press charges.”
“Give me a break. He’s five.”
“It’s still assault. She’s right about that.”
“Well if that’s assault, then so is what they did to him. They jumped a five-year-old. Who turned around and beat the hell out of them.”
“Millie said it was...and this is a direct quote from our daughter...’fucking awesome’. Is it wrong that I would have loved to have seen that? Just watch him destroy those kids. He’s in kindergarten and he’s taking on older kids. A group of them.  At the same time. And he’s winning. Now come on, that’s impressive.”
“And did you hear what he just said? About teaching bad people a lesson? I wonder he gets THAT from.”
“I know you hate when I say this about any of them, but that kid is all me. There’s no denying whose DNA was more powerful when he was made.”
“No one wants to hear about your stellar genes or your super sperm or whatever you’re going to say next.”
“No one,” he grins. “Meaning you. Don’t be bitter about this. I’m sorry your genes just could not compete that day. That they didn’t show up until the very last one. It’s not my fault that they were asleep at the wheel.”
“I’m going to smother you in your sleep one day and no one will be the wiser. They’ll probably sympathize me, actually. That poor girl; putting up with his bullshit for so long. No wonder she didn’t do it sooner.”
“Listen, anyone who knows you, knows you don’t put it with bullshit. And that I’m one who’s been putting up with yours for almost seven years. Don’t act all innocent. You’re tiny but you take no shit from anyone. Like one of those dogs people carry around in their purses. They look all cute and sweet, but they’ll take out your Achilles tendon and then go for your jugular once you’re down.”
“One day Tyler...” she muses with a dramatic sigh. “...one day I will bring you down. You’ll be begging for mercy when I finally get a hold of you.”
“You’ve had me begging before, so...”
“Okay, during sex does not count. I’m talking about making you beg for mercy. Because the next time you compare me to some angry animal...”
“So I can’t ever bring out the comparison to a honey badger?”
“I will seriously kick you in the nuts! “
“Considering how short you are, it’d have to be a head butt.”
“Do you want to see your forty first birthday?” She laughs, and he chuckles and wraps an arm around her shoulders, drawing her into his, lips pressing against her temple. “Do you think they will?” she asks, turning serious once again. “Want to press charges?”
“I doubt it.  They’ll be embarrassed when they find out a kindergarten kid that’s still afraid of the dark beat the fuck out of their spawn.  At the same time.”
“You’re a little too proud about that.”
“I’m so fucking proud of that kid I could cry,” Tyler admits.
Esme rolls her eyes.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if the school calls the child protection people again.  Because I’m too ‘aggressive’ and a ‘bad influence’.  I’ll fucking show them aggressive if they show up here. I’ve got lots of property I can hide bodies on.”
“Okay, how about we NOT kill the child services person. Chances are they won’t even show up because last time they found nothing against us, and they were pissed at the school for wasting their time. So...” she carries their dirty dishes to the sink, then stands behind him and curls back around his waist and rests her head against his back. “...let’s not even think about that. I’m proud of you. For handling things as well as you did. I thought for sure you’d have an anxiety attack going there. But you held in there and kicked some ass. Maybe not literally, but still. You did awesome, baby.  Progress!”
“Do I get a gold star on the chore chart chore of it?” he chides. “I think I’m on three out of five days of good behavior and responsibilities met.”
“Oh, I’ll give you something later for it,” she promises.  “You do realize that even though this time was justified, our son still has issues, right?”
Tyler sighs. “I know. He takes after me, yeah? Of course he has issues.”
“Baby, he’s five and he’s been through a lot and he’s having a hard time processing it all. This has nothing to do with you. Stop beating yourself up over things you can’t control. You didn’t do this to Tyler in the same way you didn’t do something that made Austin sick. Have you had that dream again?”
“Not since we talked about it. Doesn’t mean I’m not thinking about it. Obsessing over shit. About her turning six. But no. I haven’t had the dream since that night.”
“Then stop. Please. Stop hating yourself for things that are beyond your control. You’re not a horrible person, Tyler. You’re a good person who has had to some horrible things.”
“You have a lot of faith in me.”
“Well, I kind of like you a little bit, so...”
“We’ve moved up to like, huh?” he teases, as he turns around to face her, hands settling on her hips. “Only took almost seven years to get past the tolerating me stage.”
“Don’t push it. There’s days where my tolerance level is pretty low. Because let me tell you, as cute as you are, there are times where you just drive me absolutely batshit insane.”
“But you’d miss me. If you woke up one day and I was gone.”
“I don’t even like hearing you joke about that. That is not something I like to think about, let alone talk about. Especially now that we’ve got this Ovi bullshit hanging over our heads and the very real possibility that you’re going to get back into things and...”
“And we’re not going to worry about that shit unless we have to,” he finishes for her. “Stop,” he implores, taking her face in his hands and kissing her softly.  “We are nowhere near anything like that going down. That’s weeks away. If not months. It isn’t going to happen overnight. So I need you to stop thinking about it, okay?”
Esme nods, but the tears sparkling in her eyes gives away her true feelings.
“Don’t do that. Please. Don’t look at me like that,” he begs, and places a palm on the back of her head and pulls her into him. “Everything is going to be okay. It might not even come to that. Me having to leave.”
Her arms wrap around his waist, hands sliding under the bottom of his t-shirt and her index fingers hooking around the belt loops on his jeans. “I know you’re trying out the whole optimistic gig, but when you actually don’t sound optimistic, it doesn’t work very well. This shouldn’t even be happening. We shouldn’t even have to worry about this. It was supposed to be behind us.”
“I know. And I’m sorry. That this is shit is even happening. It’s not what I wanted. Trust me.”
“It’s not exactly your fault. You didn’t put all that crap in Ovi’s head. I just didn’t want you dragged back into this. Not now. Not ever. We have five kids that need you. Why didn’t he think of that? Of the people here that need you to come home safe and sound.”
“Because he’s a fucking drongo, that’s why. But you know what? There’s a chance I won’t even have to go anywhere. And that’s the chance I need you to think about. Can you do that? For me? Start thinking about how I may NOT have to go instead of convincing yourself that I AM going. Because one of us needs to be the strong one right now, and if I’m totally honest, I don’t feel like being that person.”
“You don’t have to be,” she says. “You know that. You don’t have to always be strong, Tyler. Sometimes you need someone to be strong for you. That that’s okay. No matter what someone told you or what you saw or heard growing up, there’s nothing wrong with NOT being strong. And fuck anyone who ever made you feel otherwise. Your father, Gaspar. Fuck them both.”
“I’m so fucking pissed,” he admits. “At Ovi. At Nik. At everyone and everything. I’m angry and I’m frustrated, and you know what? I’m fucking terrified. Because I don’t know if I can do that shit anymore. The job. I don’t know if I have it in me. Physically or mentally. And if I fuck up even in the smallest way, I’m NOT coming home. And that scares me the most.”
She tightens her hold on him; fingers releasing the belt loops and now gripping the back of his shirt, face buried in his chest.  “It’s okay,” she says. “To be scared. You can be scared with me, Tyler.”
Dropping a kiss on the top of her head, he buries his face in her hair and closes his eyes.  It’s comforting; the feel of her body pressed against his, the smoothness of her skin and the heat that radiates off of it, the familiar scent that clings to her hair. There are so many little things that he tends to take for granted. The way she’ll stand on the top of his feet to kiss him because she thinks those couple of inches gained make a remarkable difference. How she’ll just wander into the gym in the middle of a workout and not say a word or even make eye contact with him yet leave a bottle of water where he can find it. Or how she’ll just silently reach for his hand and hold it while they sit on the patio outside of their bedroom and watch the sunrise together.
Little things he’d miss in a huge way if they suddenly ceased to exist.

FFT: you jump, i jump jack; pete dunne
Notes:
This came to my main asks via @vonschweetz and it got me thinking... What if I redid Barbie and Pete entirely. And made Barbie a brattier little Omega, more resistant. I still might want to do this, we shall see... It was an interesting take.
Summary:
Bratty omega meets stubborn as fuck alpha. let the games begin.
Pairing:
Pete Dunne x OFC, Barbie
Warnings:
Uhh... flirtation and banter, bratty omegas and stubborn alphas. It’s cute. Seriously. I might actually try doing something with this.
Tumblr media
Barbie looked from man to man, totally unimpressed. Folding her arms, she cleared her throat when they finally took a break from their whole territorial thing. “Will you two kindly knock it the fuck off? And get lost, your Alpha stink is probably what’s keeping my true Alpha from making himself known.”
“You don’t have an Alpha. You could have me, but you won’t stop being stubborn.”
“I’d clearly be better for you than that asshole. C’mon. Think about it. You and me, baby.”
“All you two idiots are doing is making me dryer than the Sahara desert. Fuck off.” Barbie practically spat the words at the two men and luckily, it was enough to send them away. This time.
… oh but those two twat waffles will be back. They always come back… if I could just hurry and figure out who back here is my true Alpha…
… but what if it’s somebody you don’t want to be mated to?…
… anyone has to be better than Oney Lorcan and fucking Matt Cross… anyone…
Almost as if she’d summoned it, the scent was back again and it was… So heavy. It dominated the air and Barbie breathed in deep. Fanning herself, she leaned back against the brick wall and let her eyes flit around the room, careful to not settle on any particular member of the roster.
It couldn’t be Tyler Bate or Trent Seven.
She knew it wasn’t any of the Undisputed Era, she’d gotten close enough to each man earlier in the week to realize that they were not only not the scent she’d been trying to find, but their scents all actually repulsed her.
None of them had that unique combination of Big Red chewing gum and freshly upturned earth like this scent. And while normally, the scent of dirt did literally nothing for her, in this case it was… Like the most erotic thing she’d ever smelled in her life.
It wasn’t Johnny Gargano, either.
So far, no one she’d tried to get close to matched this particular scent.
Distractedly, Barbie stepped away from the wall and gave in to the urge to follow her nose. As she started to walk down the hall, the scent got heavier and heavier, beckoning her. Turning a corner and entering catering, she managed to collide with Pete Dunne around the same time that the scent suddenly intensified. Pete gripped her arms, a gruff swear coming as he said something to her about watching where she walked, only to trail off in mid sentence.
“It’s you.”
They both said it at the same time, but Dakota called out to her and she bit her lip, staring up at her true Alpha a few seconds, trying to get a read on how the current situation affected him.
She couldn’t. He masked his thoughts on the matter heavily.
Barbie’s face fell and she turned abruptly, hurrying over to Dakota and one or two of the other girls.
Pete blinked and turned to scowl at Tyler, who’d just come up behind him and shoved him playfully. “What was ‘at about, Dunney?”
“I found ‘er.”
“And yer not over there with ‘er why? Who was it?”
“The blonde talkin t’ Dakota and the other girls. Th’ one with curly hair.”
Tyler followed his friends gaze and he gave a low and appreciative whistle as he muttered quietly, “Y’ lucky fuckin bastard. Well don’t let me stop y’. Go on, go to ‘er.”
Pete raised a brow and rolled his eyes, shaking his head.
“Yer an idiot, Dunney.”
“Don’t think she was too happy with th’ realization I’m ‘er Alpha.”
“Or maybe, she took one look at yer grouchy mug and retreated because she thought she pissed y’ off. I mean if y’ gave ‘er the look y’ gave me just now, Dunney…” Tyler pointed out as helpfully as possible, but when Pete shook his head no, Tyler grumbled and shook his head.
“Well, I found him.”
“Seriously? Who? I need to know.”
“It’s Pete Dunne. But I don’t… I really don’t think he was thrilled when he realized what was happening… So.. That’s that.”
“What the hell do you mean that’s that? Pete’s always a grouch, that’s just who he is.”
“This was different. He looked annoyed. Maybe I should just give in to one of the other unmated douchebags who keep offering…” Barbie knew deep down that even as she said it, she’d never go through with it, because when she’d realized it was Pete… Something just clicked for her.
She sighed and shook her head, shoving it all out of her mind for the time being. “C’mon.. Someone in here is staring and it’s kinda creeping me out.” Barbie grabbed hold of Dakota’s arm, practically dragging her out of catering.
She collided with Roderick Strong in the hallway. Swallowing hard, she stared up at him, mumbling an apology. Roderick flashed her a grin and leaned against the doorway, pinning her in. “No need to apologize, darlin. You alright?”
“I’m fine, just.. In a hurry.” Barbie nodded to the doorway he was currently blocking and he chuckled, moving to the side. He caught hold of her wrist and held her there a few seconds the second he saw Pete Dunne staring at her from the doorway of catering.
“If any of these idiots mess with ya, Blondie.. Come find Roddy, alright?”
Barbie pried her wrist loose and gave him a thumbs up before rushing off.
Pete’s fists clenched and Tyler muttered to himself with an amused laugh, “And ‘ere we go.” before quickly grabbing hold of his best friend and starting the process of talking him down from whatever ‘punishment’ Pete was currently doling out to Strong in his head.
Pete growled and took a deep breath.
“What y’ need t’ do, Dunney, is go to ‘er and tell ‘er that whatever she thinks isn’t th’ truth.”
“What I need t’ do, Bate, is go down t’ the ring and call ‘im out. Maybe if I make an example out ‘f him, none of the others will even think about tryin it.”
“And when y’ scare th’ living hell out of ‘er Dunney… what then? Just wait til the next time y’ see Strong lurking around, go over and intervene. That proves yer point without anybody bein afraid or havin t’ die.” Tyler eyed his best friend as he said it.
For once, Pete seemed to agree. Tyler let out a breath and then, they made their way down to the ring for the match they had.
– ( LE TIME SKIPPE )
“Clearly, me staying at the hotel while everyone else went out was a stupid idea. I’m so freaking bored!” Barbie was pacing her hotel room, fingers tangled in blonde curls as she tried to keep the worst part of her heat starting at bay.
She eyed the door and then her phone and remembering the annoyed look on Pete’s face earlier, she swore and grabbed the phone, firing off a text.
→ Hey, I’m gonna meet you guys after all.
→ No sense in me locking myself away and saving myself for an Alpha who clearly couldn’t want me less if he tried.
→ It’s that club near the beach, right?
Without waiting on a response, she showered and got out, putting on makeup and digging through her closet. When she saw the skintight little red dress that one of her friends got her as a ‘joke’ she bit her lip and hesitated. She almost passed it over in favor of something casual, her favorite jeans and crop top, but then she thought about it.
She knew who her true Alpha was now. And given that he didn’t seem like he’d be beating down her door anytime soon, was there really any sense in waiting or getting her hopes up?
She tore the tag off the dress and took it into the bathroom, changing into it. Before she could talk herself out of going out and having a fun night, she walked down the stairs and through the lobby.
Just as she went to reach for the handle on the door out of the lobby, Pete stepped in.
“Where th’ hell are y’ going?” Pete blurted it out before he could stop himself from doing so, earning him snickering from both Tyler and Trent.
“Out.”
“Out where?”
“Out. I’m supposed to be meeting someone. Can you kindly remove yourself, sir?” Barbie gazed up at Pete, tapping a stiletto against the floor impatiently.
“Not like ‘at.”
Barbie glanced down at her dress.. Before she could stop herself, she was glancing back up at him with a smirk. “Oh? And you’re gonna stop me how, sir?”
“My name is Pete. Not sir.” Pete was moving closer, Barbie was… beyond well aware of the difference in their height. She swallowed hard and fought to reign herself in because if she didn’t…
It wasn’t going to be pretty.
Self composure was harder than she’d always thought it’d be when she finally found her true Alpha.
She felt her thighs clench.
Pete was eyeing her up, almost as if he were in disbelief that she’d talk back to him.
The thought made her smirk a little, giggling quietly. She cleared her throat. “I’m running late. Either you’re going to do something about what I’m wearing, Alpha, or you’re going to move out of my fucking way.” she said it in her politest tone of voice. Pete edged closer, a hand hesitating before settling on her hip.
He stared her down intently.
Tyler and Trent cleared their throats, exchanging looks and Barbie raised her hand, resting it palm down against the front of Pete’s hoodie, staring at the door they currently blocked intently.
“It looks like I’m gonna have to be the one who walks away.” Barbie said it as she tried to side step Pete.
Pete stood there, watching her walk out of the lobby, his hand in his hair.
“ ‘at went well, Dunney.” Trent broke the silence. Pete’s response was to shove his gear bag at Trent and start to storm out the door. Trent and Tyler shared a look and grumbled. Tyler found a room service attendant and put the bags onto a trolly to be taken up and he caught up to Trent in the parking lot just in time to watch everything as it happened.
Pete caught up to her and tapped her shoulder. Barbie came to a stop and turned, staring up at him with a look of curious amusement in her eyes. “You? I thought we settled this in the lobby, sir.”
“It’s Pete. And we didn’t.” Pete’s tone was firm but quiet. She was migrating closer.. A quick scenting revealed everything and he groaned inwardly as soon as he realized that Tyler had been right back at the arena.
She’d gotten the wrong idea. She had no idea just how blown away he’d been to find out that the vanilla scent he’d been chasing for a while now was her.
Or that he’d noticed her around the time he started to smell mentioned scent and he’d been… attracted, to say the least.
His eyes darted down to the red dress and he cleared his throat. “ Maybe y’ thought I was makin a suggestion, but I was being serious, Omega.”
“My name is Barbie.”
“Barbie.” Pete repeated her name, still gazing down at her intently. Barbie tapped her feet impatiently again, her tongue gliding over her lips to moisten them. Pete’s eyes darted up, settling on her mouth and the attention that the gesture bought to it. He shrugged off his hoodie and thrust it at her.
Barbie eyed the hoodie and then him and she gave a quiet giggle.
“I’m not bein’ funny.”
“No, but… Do you think when you say jump, Alpha… that I’m just gonna ask you how high?”
“Not at all. I’d say it goes both ways.”
“I’m not putting on that hoodie. And why does it matter anyway? What I wear, I mean..” Barbie was moving closer, despite her best efforts to refrain from doing so. Pete gave a satisfied smirk when he felt her body tuck into his. He chuckled and rubbed his chin, trying to think about a response.
Barbie’s phone lit up and started to ring.
“One second.” Barbie answered the phone and she was in the midst of telling Dakota the situation when Pete took the phone and informed Dakota that Barbie wasn’t going to make it.
After ending the call, he held her phone out to her.
“Y’ weren’t in any shape t’ go out alone tonight anyway.”
“Who are you, my father?”
“No, but I am yer Alpha. We both know it.”
Barbie scoffed. “Now you want to claim it.”
“Wanted to earlier. Someone didn’t really give me much time t’ react.”
“The annoyed look on your face was reaction enough.” Barbie stepped away, turning and preparing herself to walk away. She’d never been the kind of girl to just fall in line, follow a rule or an order.
She would’ve kept walking too if Pete hadn’t called out calmly, “ Y’ can keep fighting it.. But y’ know what y’ really feel. I can smell it in yer scent. Fightin is only gonna make it worse on y’.”
“I’m not fighting anything, pal. If you want me, come and get me, Pete.”
Barbie started to slink away and for a split second, because no one was around to see him do it, a smile played on Pete’s lips as he took a deep breath to reign himself in and started to calmly walk after her.
She’d just stepped into the club and was waving at the girls when she felt him pressing into her from behind. “Okay, Barbie. I’ll play yer game. But know that when I play games, I play them t’ win.”
Barbie bit her lip to keep from whimpering and after a second, she managed to reply, “We’ll see, Pete. Think you can handle dancing with me or would that be too much?”
Pete turned her around, pulling her close.
“I don’t dance.”
“This works too..”

Word Count: 2034
Author’s Note: Sorry for the inconsistent post times this week! I’ve finally had a chance to sleep in and, well, I like to sleep in. I’ll try and keep it a bit more consistent going forward! Enjoy day four :)
*     *     *     *     *
You were in the middle of taking a long drink of orange juice when someone tapped you on the shoulder, scaring you so bad that you almost spit it all over the table. The girls at the table began to laugh at you, but you simply wiped your mouth with the back of your hand and turned to see who it was.
“Finished it,” Tyler grinned, holding his hand out to you.
Sure enough, in his hand was a red and yellow bracelet. It wasn’t the prettiest bracelet that you had seen, but being a camp counselor had also created a pretty high standard in your mind. All that mattered to you was the fact that Tyler had actually spent time outside of your activity to finish it.
“I love it,” you smiled. “Do you mind?”
You held out your arm and Tyler carefully tied the bracelet around your wrist. His fingers brushed lightly against your skin, sending tingles up your arm.
“That better be on your arm every time I see you until the end of this week,” he said, pointing a finger at you.
“We made a deal!” you said.
“Good, now I have a table of rowdy boys and a less-than-pleased cabin partner to get back to,” he laughed.
“Later, Vulture.”
He lightly traced a hand along your shoulder as he walked away from your table, making you smile like an idiot. The girls were all watching your reaction.
“I told you! Vulture is the one she likes!” one of the girls said.
“No, no, no. You didn’t hear the rumor that I did.”
“And what was that?”
“That yesterday during arts and crafts, her and DJ Spooky chased each other around with paint. He even grabbed her arm.”
“Yeah, but did he make her a bracelet?”
“You can still see the blue paint on her arm! Does it matter?”
“Girls,” you cut them off and slid your arm under the table. “I’m right here.”
Jenna chimed in too, “And what did we say about discussing other people’s relationships?”
“Not allowed,” the one who had started it all sighed, slumping back into her seat.
“Exactly, so let’s talk about something else.”
“What’s our activity today?” Poppy asked.
Jenna pulled out her neat little folder and whipped out the weekly schedule, glancing over it quickly.
“This afternoon we have a hike with the leaders of the blue cabin and then purple cabin is in charge of the activity tonight.”
“Blue cabin?” you asked.
“Yes, your favorite,” Jenna laughed, shooting you a look.
“DJ Spooky,” one of the kids gasped.
“Girls, make sure to fill up your water bottles before we leave the cafeteria, ok?” you said. “I don’t want any of you getting dehydrated on the hike today.”
“Aye, aye, captain,” a couple of the girls cheered.
You and Jenna shared a look; both of your eyes were open wide.
“Where did you learn that?” Jenna asked.
“The boys were saying it during the activity last night,” one of the girls answered.
“Yeah, they said it every time DJ Spooky asked them to do something.”
Jenna sighed and shot another look at you, causing you to giggle. You should have known it would only be so long before Josh’s joke caught on.
*     *     *
“This right here,” Josh said, pointing to a yellow flower growing on the side of the path, “is called Goatsbeard.”
“Goats don’t have beards!” one of the little girls holding your hand said. “That’s a stupid name.”
“We didn’t come up with it,” Brad said. “We’re just supposed to teach you about it.”
“It’s native to this area,” Josh explained. “Does anyone want to get a closer look?”
Most of the girls stepped forward and examined the plant, poking at the little flowers or drawing pictures of it on their sketchpads. Josh wandered over to where you and Jenna were standing.
“How do you think it’s going so far?” he asked.
“Really well,” you answered. “The girls seem to be enjoying themselves.”
“And what about you?”
“Yeah, I’m having fun,” you shrugged.
“Come on, Y/C/N,” Josh joked, giving you a light elbow in the ribs. “Show some enthusiasm.”
“Woo, plants!” You threw your hands up and moved them around a little bit in some form of happy dance. Jenna looked at you, trying her hardest not to laugh.
“I’m going to go see if Brad needs any help,” Jenna said, giving you a light tap on the shoulder.
“Ok, good luck.”
“Are you actually enjoying yourself?” Josh asked, dropping his over-the-top camp persona for a moment.
“Of course I am! Hiking has always been one of my favorite activities. I’m jealous you’re in charge of it this year.”
“You don’t get tired of walking the same trail over and over again?”
“Not at all, especially if you’re with the right people,” you smiled, bumping him with your arm.
Josh was about to say something in return when two little girls came skipping over to you, each holding a couple brightly colored flowers in their hands.
“DJ Spooky! I got you some flowers,” the first girl said.
“Yeah, and I got you prettier ones,” the second said, stepping in front of her friend.
“Both of these are equally beautiful,” Josh grinned. “Thank you.”
He turned to you and raised his eyebrows. You reached out and took the flowers from his hand, tucking them neatly behind his ear.
“Perfect,” you giggled.
“You’re so pretty!” the girls laughed, temporarily forgetting their feud.
“Am I?” Josh asked, turning to you.
“Gorgeous.”
The girls ran off, whispering excitedly to one another. Josh always seemed to attract the most attention from the little girls, mostly because he was such a good sport about it. He always wound up with a fan club by the end of the week.
Josh leaned a little closer to you so that he could whisper in your ear, “You think this is a good time to mention that I’m allergic to flowers?”
You couldn’t help but crack up at his comment, although you did feel a little bad for putting the plants so close to his face.
“Alright, let’s keep moving! There’s a lot more plants to see,” he announced.
“Aye, aye, captain!” the girls called, falling into line behind Brad and linking up with their buddies.
With Brad and Jenna at the lead, you and Josh were able to hang back behind the group and look out for stragglers. He pointed out a couple spots to you that he claimed were exceptional for stargazing, if you could manage to sneak past the supervisors that roamed the camp late at night.
You were in the middle of telling a story about a kid that had run off during the hike last year when you felt something brush against your hand. Josh was walking pretty close to you, so you figured you had bumped into him on accident. But then it happened again. And again.
This was definitely intentional.
“And then what happened?” Josh asked. You hadn’t even realized you had stopped talking.
“Oh, we found him down in the creek with his shoes off. He had to finish the hike with a counselor for a buddy.”
“Wow,” Josh laughed. “Yeah, nothing like that has happened today. Yet.”
“That’s good.”
“You feeling alright, Y/C/N? Your face is kinda pink.”
“Yeah, it’s just… warm,” you said, waving a hand around.
“Warm, yeah,” Josh laughed.
“Hey, DJ Spooky!” Brad called. “Get your butt up here.”
The kids all started to laugh at Brad’s use of a “bad” word.
“That’s my cue,” Josh said, giving your arm a light tap.
“Have fun,” you smiled, watching as he walked to the front of the group.
Jenna joined you at the back of the group, but you were too distracted by Josh catching your eye every now and again to pay much attention.
*     *     *
You and Jenna were sitting at the edge of the hill, watching as the cabins played a large game of Red Rover. Tyler had just been captured by the other team after unsuccessfully trying to break their chain. Most of the kids - and a few of the rowdier counselors - were yelling excitedly and bouncing around.
“Y/C/N! Daisy! Come join the game!” one of the girls from your cabin called.
“Yes! Please!” another chimed in.
You looked to Jenna, who simply shrugged. Together, you ran down the hill and joined opposite teams, just to keep things fair. Poppy happily offered up a spot next to her in the line.
“Whose turn is it?” you asked.
“Theirs,” Poppy answered plainly.
The other team spent some time deciding who they would call over before Josh led the chant.
“Red Rover, Red Rover, send Y/C/N right over!”
You should have seen that one coming. After a bit of convincing to get Poppy to let go of your hand, you went running over to the other side and attempted to break through their link. Unfortunately for you, Josh was straight across from you, making your task nearly impossible. They eventually called it a fail and you joined the opposing team.
“Nice try,” Josh smiled as he unlinked his hand so that you could take a place next to him.
“You’re just too strong.”
You linked your fingers with Josh’s and tried not to move your hand around too much. After all, this was just a game. Still, it was hard to ignore the way he would give your hand a light squeeze every now and again.
The game went on for another twenty minutes until your team captured all the other team’s members and emerged victorious. Josh went around, giving everyone high fives and congratulating them on the win. Eventually, he made his way over to you and pulled you into a sweaty hug.
“You may not have been on our team to begin with, but you were essential to our win,” he laughed.
“Thanks, Spooky,” you said, giving him a couple pats on the back.
You were about to start up a conversation with him when a couple girls from your cabin came running over, demanding your attention. Instead, you settled for a wave and followed them across the field.
*     *     *
You stripped off your sweaty t-shirt from the day and pulled on your nice pajama shirt. All of the girls were sitting around the cabin, enjoying their downtime before lights out. Most of them were playing card games or telling stories and you were happy to finally have some time to rest after the long day.
“How much time until lights out?” you asked Jenna.
“About ten minutes.”
“Good. I’m ready to pass out right now.”
“Me too,” she laughed. “It’s been a long day.”
“I know, and we’re just over halfway through the week.”
Poppy came running over to your bunk, practically throwing herself on top of you. You managed to catch her and avoid her completely landing on your stomach, but you still ended up with an elbow straight to the gut.
“How about we make a new rule about not jumping on counselors?” you wheezed.
“But that was so fun!” she squealed.
“Too bad. What do you need, Poppy?”
“I need help settling a debate.”
“What’s the debate?”
“Amy said that Vulture is her boyfriend, but obviously he’s mine!”
“Is that so?” you asked, sharing a look with Jenna.
“Yes! And she’s saying the she called dibs on him first, but I called dibs on the first day!”
“Well, have either of you actually talked to Vulture about him being your boyfriend?”
“Um… no.”
“Then I don’t think he’s anybody’s boyfriend.”
Poppy leaned really close to you and cupped a hand around your ear before dramatically whispering, “Except for yours.”
“Vulture isn’t my boyfriend, but if he was, then you shouldn’t be debating about him in the first place,” you said, tickling her stomach.
Poppy squealed and went running back to her small group of friends. You looked to Jenna, who was shaking her head and smiling.
“Girls, make sure all your things are put away nicely! Lights out is in seven minutes.”
“Ok, Daisy!” a few of them called back.
Four days down, three to go.

Elizabeth Mikeaslon - What If? Chapter 12
Tumblr media
Authors Note: Here it is people chapter 12! Seriously had an emotional train wreck writing this one but things are getting exciting “Fun” Elizabeth is back! All the fun without the compelling. Lets see what havoc her and Niklaus can cause together this time. If you wish to added let me know. 💜💙🖤 Lizzie-Lijah Stag-Tag: @skeletoresinthebasement
As me and Niklaus headed over to the Salvatore residence it had started to rain lightly and that brought back some of the good memories myself and Nik had shared in the past. While Elijah was fond of spending some of his time reading myself and Nik would be at war...well playing chess. It was something that I had picked up quite easily and always made me think you need to be at least two steps ahead of your enemy. But this time we had fallen behind because we had no idea where these coffins were being hidden.
When we arrived we had just walked in through the front door since nobody seemed to bother about locking it and we saw Damon pouring himself a drink, he senses us and turns to see us standing in the doorway.
"I think it's about time we had a drink, don't you?" Nik says with a smile.
"I think were long overdue." Damon replies.
"Damon be a sweetheart and pour me a drink, just leave out the shot of vervain." I say with a smile. He just looks at me not moving - I guess the drink will come later?
"Well, you've been so busy with all your plotting and scheming." Nik says sarcastically.
"You know me. Never miss a chance to plan an epic failure." Damon replies.
"Oh come now Damon don't be so hard on yourself, who would have thought that Stefan, your own brother would betray you like that." I teased.
"Yeah well we both had a front row seat when Rebekah lied to him." Damon says gesturing at me and him.
"I would however like to point out that I said it wouldn't work and surprise surprise the plan blew up in your faces." I replied bluntly.
"Yeah, well Rebekah she's fickle that one. And you say you have no idea of her whereabouts?" Nik asks.
"That's the thing with younger siblings. You just never know what they're gonna do." Damon replied with a smile.
"Drink?" He added.
"Thought you would never ask." I said slyly. Damon pours a glass for Nik and myself and another for himself he hands out the glasses to us.
"Cheers mate." Nik says loudly.
"Thank you Damon." I say. "
Down the hatch." Damon encourages. And we down our drinks in one, I licked my lips in satisfaction.
"You know, we've all actually got a lot in common." Nik teases.
"Really? Well, yeah. Maybe we can bond over our mutual loathing of my brother. Why are you so mad at him? He stole something?" Damon replies.
"My family, the Originals. I had them daggered, boxed-up awaiting the day when I saw fit to wake them. And he went in and pinched the bloody lot." Nik says.
"When you saw fit." I laughed.
"Now now Nik we both agreed that Elijah would be the first to be woken up." I added.
"Seems there's still a little tension between you pair." Damon teases.
"No tension Damon we're perfectly fine." I say to him.
"Such a buzzkill, my baby bro. Well, I'd love to find him. Just the trouble is, I sure as hell don't work for either of you." Damon spats.
"Well here's where you wrong Damon, do you remember that conversation we had a while back?" I said playfully.
"Elijah is an Original, I am older and stronger then you, so it would be wise not to do anything stupid. But know this the moment you cease to be of use either myself or my husband your dead. So you should listen to what Elijah and I say to you, do your job and keep Miss Gilbert safe"
"Come on Damon think back, now I do believe that you helping us will in fact keep Elena safe because if you don't help I will kill her myself, but not by my own hand ohhh no, I will find a way to kill her and you will never know when or where it will happen but you will always be on edge and that is when I will strike, a stressed out enemy is the easiest to put down." I threatened with a smile.
"You know, your drink stinks of vervain so I can't compel you. There will be no point in killing you because your actually the one with the most help of getting me what I need. And yet it would seem a demonstration is in order. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough when I told you to find Stefan. Well, it seems you people respond best to displays of violence. Why don't you take this as an example of my reach." Nik adds to my threat. He pulls his phone out from his pocket and makes a quick phone call.
"There he is! So, that thing I told you to do...why don't you go ahead and get on with it?" Nik says with a sadistic smile and hangs up.
"Well would you look at the time, thank you for the drink Damon but I'm afraid we must be off." I say to him."
The both of us got up and left leaving Damon puzzled about the phone call. But too be fair I had no idea who he was speaking to so whilst on the way back to the mansion, Nik and I started talking.
"So to whom did you make a phone call to?" I ask him.
"That would be young Jeremy Gilbert." he replies.
"Oh you sly dog you." I tease.
"Seriously these dog jokes are getting old love."
"And yet you wouldn't have me any other way Nik.".
The next day my brother was walking through parts of the house with someone called Mindy she had been following him around most of the morning about making improvements to the mansion, I was laid on the sofa reading a book.
"Compel the men to open up this wall. We need sun. I want a fortress not a dungeon." He informs her.
"Why not just settle for a mansion brother, why bother for fortresses and dungeons?" I called from the other room.
"Never you mind sister." He shoots back.
With the front door open the countless workers that were entering and exiting the mansion making a large amount of noise were starting to get on my nerves. But then some entertainment arrived and that was Tyler Lockwood, Nik's first successful Hybrid.
"Here he his, the man of the hour." Nik shouts happily as he headed over to the door, I also proceeded to make my over to join the two males.
"So everything went okay?" Tyler asks nervously.
"Tony ran down Alaric instead of Jeremy." Nik starts.
"But hey, apples or oranges they both happen to be fruit so what does it matter. The message is still landed the same." I interject playfully twirling a lock of my hair.
"You said you are sending them a warning." Tyler says.
"Yes. That's exactly what Nik did Mr Lockwood." I warned.
"An effective one! Elena's family suffers, she is motivated to get me what I want." Nik finishes.
"What we want." I said under my breath.
"I didn't think that we actually have to kill anyone." Tyler said backing away slightly.
"Tyler, mate. What you are feeling is the remnant of a guilty conscience. I need you to get over it, okay? End of the day human life is just a means to an end. Our means to our end. You do well to remember that?" Nik says bluntly and walks off.
"Be sure to understand where your loyalties lie Tyler we wouldn't want another accident where Nik's Hybrids fail again." I said to him.
"All you Mikealson's do is threaten, is being civil beneath you?" The Hybrid asks.
"Believe me Tyler we wasn't always like this, however this is what happens when your granted with the gift of immortality. Things start to crack over time and well we as a family have had plenty of time, I trust you will see yourself out." I replied softy and l headed back to the living area and sat back on the sofa.
I looked at the book I had placed to one side "The Scarlett Letter" my hand grazed over the hardback cover. "Sin, justice and shame... seems we both have this in common." I whispered to myself.
Unknowing that my brother had heard what I had just said, and with that he headed up into his study and gotten out a worn box and started setting up a slight distraction. Roughly about thirty minutes later I wondered into Nik's study I saw him sat waiting patiently which was rare for him these days.
"When you told me you had a surprise for me I had the feeling it would be this." I say to Nik with a smile.
"Well I think we both could use the practice we both haven't played in a while." He replies.
The room was silent while we played the only thing was the faint noise of the chess pieces being moved around the board, I picked up a Knight that had been captured and played with it in my hand, sighing I moved my Queen backwards to protect the King I knew I had fallen into Nik's trap and once again I had lost.
"That is check-mate love." Nik says with a chuckle.
"Once again you have a victory, don't be so smug Nik I will beat you." I reply to him smiling.
"And I will wait again for that day, but take it as a compliment sweetheart your not suited to war." Nik replied picking up the chess pieces and putting them away.
"Give me the correct motivation and I can join your level of sadistic." I laughed.
"This was nice Nik, no fighting or bickering between us. Just the family bonding we used to do all those years ago. Shame not everyone is here..." I added, quickly pausing at my unfinished sentence, a few tears spiked in my eyes I looked at the floor and walls anywhere except my brother and then I just fled, I ran out of the room and headed upstairs to the bedrooms. I ran into mine and what would be Elijah's room shut the door and slid down it, I cried and cried I missed him so much. I couldn't lie to myself anymore Elijah was my rock and I needed him.
Moments later I heard a soft knock on the door. "Lizzie love, open the door." Nik said softly. I picked myself up and opened the door and as soon as I saw Nik I basically jumped into his arms he gently brought me into a tight hug stroking my hair to try and calm me down, a trick Elijah had seen him do in the past.
"I miss him Nik, so much. I can't sleep at night and the feeling to rip this town apart for blood is getting stronger." I cried into his chest.
"I know love, we will get him back I promise you." Nik mumbles in my hair.
After my sobs had been calmed we had sat on the edge of the bed looking out of the window together the sun had set and night was beginning to arise, the stars had started to appear and there twinkles made me smile. "Now that is what I was waiting for." Nik says gently.
"How are able to cope with whats happening Nik? How are you able to still make jest? How is it that your not ripping limbs from others to just to get that thief to show himself?" I asked.
"I've daggered my family on numinous times, I'm used to being alone, but then there has been the times where I've had you for company. While yes you've sent me glares and death threats in the past for taking Elijah but even so it was company. But knowing that they have been taken without my knowledge that makes me livid however that emotion alone makes the perfect motivation for plotting revenge." Nik explains.
"I never thought we would be out smarted by a teenage girl and some baby vampires." I said with a chuckle.
"But we won't be for much longer, I have something to ask. What did you mean that we had something in common with your book?" Nik asked me.
I turned to look at him and I placed my small hand on his cheek. "Sin, justice and shame. Being able to have the opportunity to live for eternity is a sin, everything needs to have balance. It is earths greatest sin that we can walk through time forever." I started.
"Careful love the witch in you is starting to appear." Nik teases.
"Pipe down brother." I said with a chuckle.
"Justice, we sought out our own versions of justice over the centuries, killed, murdered and slaughtered however you wish to phrase it. Could so many deaths be avoided or could more be added to the endless list by each of us? And shame I feel like I've let Elijah down, I feel ashamed in the fact I wasn't strong even to protect him when we went after the doppelganger. My anger was the fuel for my actions because we had been betrayed. If only...." Nik placed a finger to my lips to shush me.
"My brother has never been ashamed of you, you bring out the light in him that I thought had gone out centuries before meeting you. You Lizzie have brought out the best in the whole family. And I'm glad you are apart of it. We will get Elijah back I promise you"
The next day Nik had been summoned by the doppelganger to meet at the boarding house and to make sure it wasn't a trick I also tagged along. Dressed in a black and pink floral dress with some black heels we headed over. "This better not be a trick, I don't care if she is what you need to make your Hybrids if I smell a rat she dies. Another doppelganger may not appear but we will drain her blood first how does that sound?" I told Nik as we walked up to the front door.
"Normally I'm a fan of your methods but not today love." Nik replies with a smirk as he knocks on the large wooden door. Moments later it opens and my brother and I are stood face to face once again with Elena Gilbert - Home Wrecker...
"Thank you for coming...Both of you." She starts as she lets us in the house. Nik gestures to let me inside first seems my brother can be a gentleman when he feels like it. As we headed into the parlor Nik speaks to break the silence in the house.
"I trust you have news of Stefan?" I crossed my arms and looked at the girl.
"I couldn't find him. But I have something else." She admits as she gets us to follow her elsewhere into the house, we headed down the stairs into the cellar. My heart rate increased as the memories of my torment of being captured came to surface. Nik sends me a glance and I pushed the feels down and I let out a breath to calm myself. Elena opens the door and to which we see Rebekah on the floor with a dagger sticking out of her chest.
"My poor sister, I can't turn my back on her for a moment" Nik says with a hint of sarcasm.
"You have Rebekah a deal is a deal." Elena says to him.
"Well then lets way up the equations shall we? Rebekah's life in exchange for your brother Jeremy? I would say that is a steal wouldn't you Nik?" I teased the doppelganger.
"It is, consider him spared." Nik announces.
"You should know I was the one who daggered Rebekah. When she wakes up she'll come after me." Elena told us.
"Well she may have to get in line. I have the feeling that I'm overdue for a little exercise, fancy a game of chase little home wrecker?" I said playfully.
"I can control Lizzie and Rebekah. Besides I still need your help finding Stefan." Nik says stepping slightly in front of me blocking partial view of Elena.
"I told you I don't know where he is." Elena said sternly. Nik walks over to his sister and pulls out the silver dagger that kept her in a slumber.
"You see Elena what Nik has done by removing the dagger from my sister is because he has the sense you are lying to us. Now we all know that you have no shortage of loved ones so it is really only a matter of time before we decide who is next on this newfound hit list, one that I'm rather excited to take part in. So it is really only a matter of time before your boyfriend gives us what we want. So who is next by the way? Bonnie? Caroline? Damon?" I explained bluntly.
"You said you would control her." Elena shouted at my brother.
"Well I didn't have to compel her this time, the fun side of my sister has come out voluntarily best give us an answer before Rebekah joins this party." Nik replies with a smirk.
"Stefan doesn't care about me anymore, you made sure of that. You turned him into a monster. Now he's your problem. And just so you know I'm not the only one Rebekah wants dead! She knows what you did to your mother. She knows you killed her! You can both let yourselves out." Elena shouts and storms off into another part of the house.
"Well that was boring." Nik admits.
"Best get her out of here before she wakes up." I suggested. And with that Nik lifted his sister into his arms and we made our way back to the mansion.

Summer Nights- Chapter Two
Ben Hardy x Reader
Summary: you decide to get revenge on Ben with a prank, but it goes terribly wrong
Warning: extreme fluff towards the end
Tumblr media
You couldn’t get the events of the previous day out of your head. Late that night, you’d spent hours asking yourself the same question: do you have feelings for Ben? Even when you fell asleep at two in the morning you still didn’t have an answer. But you decided to try to forget about your internal dilemma for a moment, instead focusing on how to beat get revenge on Ben for, well, everything.
So for that very reason you rummaged through your brother’s toy bin. After a moment you noticed him staring at you from his bedroom door and you paused, your arm deep inside the bin.
“I uh need to borrow something for work.”
“You get to play with toys at your work?” He asked confused, but then his tiny face lit up. “Awesome!”
“Haha yeah, soo where do you keep your water guns?”
“They’re in the back. Don’t take the blue one, I need it for later. Stevie’s coming over soon.”
“Ooo fun,” you said, but you were secretly relieved that you wouldn’t be around to witness all the chaos the destructive kids would cause. “Thanks dude.”
“No problem bro,” he joked.
You rolled your eyes and made your way to the backyard, nearly running into your mom. Immediate regret filled your stomach like cement at she glanced disapprovingly at your outfit, which was a lilac tube top and jean skirt that showed off a bit too much of your mature body for her liking.
“I hope you’re not planning on leaving the house like that.”
“Aye mama I’m eighteen when will you finally let me dress like an adult?”
“When you have a big strong husband to beat the dirty minded men off of you so I don’t have to protect you anymore.”
“That’s sexist mama. Besides I bought these clothes with my own money.”
“And I pay for the roof over your head!”
“Doesn’t dad do that?”
“He knows I’m the boss, now go change.” You hung your head and let out an overly loud groan as you drudged back to your room. You put a long flowered cover up instead, pulling the neckline down a little, and then snuck out back once again to retrieve a water gun. ****** ************ ********* ***** *********** ****
You sat alert and intently focused as you scanned the pool, searching for Hardy who must not be named. The water gun was hidden behind the large beach bag you held on your lap and your finger perched eagerly on the trigger. Suddenly a glimpse of blonde hair caught your attention and you turned just in time to catch Ben entering the pool. The bag flew off your lap as you leaped to the ground and you let the gun rip. Shock enveloped Bens face, filling you with a victorious feeling. But you did not expect him to pull out a water gun of his own and drench your dress, once again exposing your breasts.
“you’re dead Hardy!” You exclaimed, firing again.
“Oh no you don’t Y/N!” Ben cried as he ran towards you, squirting you in the face.
You laughed and took off in the other direction, pushing your way past kids in a completely embarrassingly aggressive fashion. Ben quickly pursued you with a relentless stream of water on your back. As you made your way past the pool you happened upon a patch of slippery pavement, sending you headfirst into the pool.
Your mind filled with pain, like it was consumed with fire. Red spots filled your vision, though it wasn’t clear if they were from blood or lack of oxygen. You felt yourself sinking towards the bottom. This was never how you thought you would die. It had to be one of the dumbest ways to go, death by water gun fight, probably featured in dumb ways to die. You’d loved that game as a kid. You’d also loved cotton candy. Ah cotton candy. You thought you could taste it on your lips. Each moment that passed sent you further into delirium.
Suddenly, you felt yourself being lifted upwards. Were you flying? Is this what dying feels like? Your hazy vision made out the strong arms of a man pulling you out of the water. Then you hit the concrete, triggering more pain in your head. Perhaps someone spoke to you, but you couldn’t understand a thing. Then you felt lips, what seemed to you at the time to be the softest lips in the world, breathing air back into your body. Every so often the man, whose shiny blonde hair nearly blinded you, would pump his hands on your chest. A cough escaped your throughly and water dribbled down your chin. The man smiled, and you smiled back. Then your vision darkened as your mind drifted into unconsciousness. *************************************************
The first thing your mind registered was a steady beep emitting from somewhere near your left ear. Then a bright light, which forced your eyes closed again. Hushed voices at your right, a man’s and a woman’s. The man sounded worried, and the woman seemed to be trying to reassure him. His voice sounded familiar, but you couldn’t quite recall why.
Finally you opened your eyes, your blurry vision revealing your savior, who sat on the edge of a dirty brown seat, biting his lip nervously. The moment he registered that you were awake a sigh of relief escaped Bens soft pink lips.
“Oh thank God Y/N, I was so scared.”
You believed him, for as he spoke his voice began to quiver and his eyes full with tears. “I could never have lived with myself if I lost you.”
You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion. Had you been transported to an alternate universe? Were you dreaming? Ah no. There wasn’t even a need to pinch yourself, the pain in your head was evidence enough that what you were seeing and hearing was real. You winced.
“Are you okay? I’ll ring the nurse,” Ben said, his beautiful green eyes wide with concern.
“No I’m fine thank you. This might be a stupid question but where am I? Brain not working haha.”
“You’re at the hospital.”
The dreaded word transported you back in time. Back to the small room and the dying flowers. Back to the dozens of people dressed in blue rushing inside. Back to the shouting and crash carts. Back to that dreadful noise as the life left your sister’s body. Back to the nurse with the funny mole holding you tight as you cry because they couldn’t save her.
You close your eyes and count to ten, just like all the therapists told you. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Deep breath. But that didn’t stop a tear from escaping down your cheek.
“Are you okay?” Ben asked, his voice etched with concern.
“No. I mean, I’m in a hospital,” you joked.
“Yeah. You could’ve died Y/N. I don’t know what I would’ve done if that had happened.”
“You were the one that saved me?”
“Yeah.”
“Why? I thought you hated me?” “I don’t hate you, I could never hate you.”
“So what were all the years of teasing and rivalry then? Did I just imagine it?”
“No. I just, I don’t know.”
“Oh come on Ben. Tell me.”
“Okay so kindergarten. You were...the prettiest girl I had ever seen. Not only pretty, you were smart, and funny, and kind. I was new and I had no friends but immediately I was drawn to you. Then some snot nosed kid, Tyler I believe, told me that you liked me. I was so excited, I didn’t know what to do. So I made you this picture of a Lily because they’re your favorite flower. I got so happy seeing how much you loved it And Tyler, who had lied and secretly had a crush on you, destroyed it and pinned it on me. It’s not easy being a new kid I guess, especially if you talk funny,” Ben chuckled. “Tyler told you that I had destroyed the painting. And you confronted me, screamed at my face for the better part of an hour. I didn’t even care that you were mad at me, I was thrilled just to be talking to you.”
“Oh my God,” you gasped. “So all these years-.”
“I just liked being able to talk to you. I’m not really an asshole, I’m just a hopeless romantic.”
You couldn’t believe this. Ben, the incessant pain in your ass, had been pining for you for thirteen years. As you gazed into his eyes, a feeling you’d never really felt before entered your sore chest. No it wasn’t from nearly drowning. You realized, it was love.
Nervously, Ben extended his hand and held yours for a moment, then bashfully nearly retracted it before you grabbed his wrist to stop him. Your eyes met, and you melted at his sweet little smile. He scooted his chair closer to your bed, just enough so that you could rest your bruised head on his shoulder. It had been a long time since you felt this safe, since you felt this happy.

Homeless: Damijon (1)
———
"You're fucking kidding", Damian practically groaned as he reluctantly walked into the school he blatantly didn't attend. Who the fuck did this cop think he was? He gave an "are you serious stare" to the overly peppy cop who escorted him to the local public school. "How many times do I have to tell you? I'm not supposed to be here! I need to find my mother."
"Don't worry, kid. I get it. Your almost in high school, you want to show your street cred, skipping school and all. Believe me, I was the same. But this isn't how you get somewhere in life. This isn't how you become popular or make friends. Now if you want to become a schmuck, you're going down the right path." The cop's earnest bright blue eyes, reflected back Damian's incredulous stare at the man.
"What dumb 50's movie did you steal that shit monologue from?" The cop's face lit up brighter than a Christmas tree telling Damian he definitely hit a soft spot. "My, err, roommate likes the old stuff, what can I say," he said sheepishly.
Damian scanned the man's face, picking up in the subtle smile lines and freckles. However, the more closely Damian studied him the redder his face became making it even harder to notice the details. "What the hell are you doin, kid?"
Damian sighed, leaning away from the cop. Why did he care so much, anyway? "Nothing," he replied, "just wondering what kind a person would stay with your ugly mug."
"Jerk."
"Sorry, ugly and brainless mug."
"Look, little dude. Just go to school, okay?" The cop began to restlessly look at his watch giving Damian a chance to catch a glimpse at his name tag. He squinted barely managing to differentiate the black lettering from the dark silver backing. "Clayton," Damian muttered curiously looking up to the cop.
It took the other a minute to catch the drift. "No, it's Grayson. Holy shirt, kid, how bad is your eye sight?"
"Do I really need to answer a question starting off with holy shirt?" Damian took a step away from the conversation, giving him a second to breathe. He massages his temples trying to soothe the oncoming headache away. "Why am I even entertaining this? Let's just agree to disagree on the whole school thing, Grayson. You can't make me go to a school I don't attend."
"You haven't even seen the half of it."
———
"I don't go here, I'm not even from this area! I was just waiting around for my mother you idiotic fools. Put me the hell down, motherfucker." Dick laughed as he saw the pill sized version of aggression being forcibly taken to algebra. He turned to the school's elderly principle with his classic smile.
"Thanks again, Mr. Fraiser. I didn't want to trouble you but-", he began but was quickly interrupted by the hunched but muscled elderly man clapping his back. "Anything for a respected alumn like you, Mr. Grayson. Having you visit here in your free time and not to mention all of the demonstrations you give the kids is truly an honor and a privilege . I know middle school has probably the toughest years for dealing with kids but the way you manage them is amazing. They love you!"
"You flatter me, Mr. Fraiser. I'll come by later to see if the hellion has everything settled. Thank you so much!" Mr. Fraiser bid goodbye shortly after, and left for his office. Dick sighed before glancing down the hallway the said hellion was dragged through earlier with a slight frown. "He's been standing there for days. Did he really expect to be picked up at that rate," he muttered to himself.
He patted his pockets looking for the keys to his cruiser, still deep in thought. "Really hope I didn't just abduct someone."
———
"This shitty establishment is giving me a fucking headache. Where is she?" Damian cursed Talia in every language he knew, knowing the devilish woman had something planned. Suddenly his phone rang. After witnessing a child lose their phone to one of the overgrown fools, he knew he should discreetly take the call. After hiding the flip phone in his hoodie, he immediately went off.
"It better be fucking worth it Al Ghul. I've been wanting to stab my eyes out since the first shriek that came out of the bat called Ms. Tyler."
"Patience, son," Talia emphasized, "I'm on a trip, so I can't pick you up. Figure something out while I'm gone. Keep your phone on you."
"Whatever." With a raged filled, yet satisfactory snap, he finished the call. He pulled away from his phone, letting it slide down the back of his hoodie into his hand. "At least it's just for today."
———
As kids practically sprinted away from the building to their parents' car, Damian fell in with the crowd to hide himself, determined to avoid the police car sitting in the middle of the lane with its sirens running. He could clearly see the police man from earlier waiting patiently and calmly despite the loud wail resounding from the car. "Fucking psycho," Damian muttered.
He shuffled away easily blending into the environment. He didn't have time to play with the man child, Damian needed to find somewhere to crash temporarily. He worriedly glanced at his watch. With the amount of time he wasted in school today, he was already behind schedule. "I'm so screwed."
"Wish I could say the same." Damian would like to say he didn't scream like a chick when he heard the voice directly by his ear. He really wishes he could. He turned around, startled to see a slightly taller girl standing behind him. "You insane mother fucker, what do you think your doing?"
"The name is Barbara, twerp."
Damian could feel weirdo vibes coming off of her, but he didn't have the energy or time to waste in her. He kept walking. "Hey, where are you going!?"
"Just saying this now, cougars aren't my type lady."
"As opposed to the sexy policeman that’s waiting for you over there?”
“How perverted are you, dude? Lay off.” Damian tried to speed walk away from the Barbara careful not pick up his speed too to avoid catching Grayson’s attention. Unfortunately, Barbara has longer legs to start with and had no problem with the speed picking up a bit.
“Sorry, it was a weird way to start a conversation, but I’m bored, I’m going this way, and you’re here. Wanna be friends?”
“No. Now leave me alone.” Damian’s cold hearted reply only seemed to encourage Barbara to pry even more. “Come on Twerp, I know you want to be friends. Just say it. ‘Please Barbara, I’m truly alone and lost in this world of middle school and I just want one dear friend. Please, oh please be my bestie for life’. Just like that.”
Damian felt minutes away from punching the girl. He turned on his heel sharply to face the girl. “What will take for you to leave me alone!?”
“Haven’t you’ve been listening? Just be my friend, idiot.”
——— 1 year later———
Damian’s entire body seemed to shiver at a frequency previously unrecorded by scientists. His finger tips almost seemed blue. He reached for his phone once more, dialing the familiar number. “Barbara, you better hurry the fuck up.”
“I know, I know. I’m sorry, but debate club held me up for a while. I swear I’ll drive you back. Just give me 5 minutes to get down there.”
“2 minutes and I’m gone.”
“Stupid twerp.” Damian snapped the phone shut and shoved his hands and phone back into his pocket, searching for any trace of the previous warmth he had. Just as the promised 2 minutes came to an end, a panting Barbara emerged from her high school’s steps, glaring at Damian. “I was on the fourth floor, you idiot. I had to sprint from the opposite end of school too. I could’ve died!”
“Save the complaining for later, Gordon. You owe me a dinner.”
———
“... and Kathy is just the cutest. She gets flustered over anything and everything and oh my God, please tell me that’s our food. I’m starving.”
“Wow, I never thought it was possible to talk fifteen minutes straight without breathing, but here you are proving me wrong again, Gordon.” Barbara rolled her eyes, but a playfully smiled remained on her lips. The waiter quickly and haphazardly placed down their food, before running to deliver the next table’s serving.
“The diner is the same as ever. Under staffed and messy.” Damian’s classic frown morphed into an even more disgusted expression as he noticed an old piece of chewed gum stuck to the window next to him.
“But you love it.” Barbara said before turning to her back pack, looking for something. “I put it here somew- ah”, Barbara exclaimed, a smile illuminating her face.
She carefully pulled out a bagged smushed cupcake which was staples to another plastic bag with a candle and lighter. She presented the baggies with a proud look. “Happy birthday!”
“Oh, you actually remembered that? I thought you were joking,” Damian said, actually a little shocked. The weeks following their first meeting, Barbara and Damian grew to actually be good friends, much to Damian’s surprise. At the rate he’s going, maybe he just attracts crazy people. When Barbara’s birthday finally swung around she got curious about Damian’s, who was just as clueless as her.
“Well, how could I forget the birthday I made up for my best friend?” Damian’s cheeks turned bright red, still not used to the endearment and care Barbara constantly sends out.
“I’m your best friend,” he asked shyly.
“Of course. And naturally I’m your’s Damian because, in all honesty, I doubt you talk to anyone else your age outside of me and Kate. You’re just too much of an awkward little twerp.”
“I could be friends with someone younger or older than me.”
“Damian if there’s anything you hate more than people your age, it’s people younger than you. And your first immediate reaction to someone older interacting with you is to insult them. Wow, now it’s my turn to be shook. How did I even deal with you!?”
“Shut up and light my birthday cupcake, Gordon.” Barbara let out another body quaking laugh, unable to take Damian’s outraged expressions. “Okay, you big baby. Give me a second.”
Barbara tried her best to take the cupcake out with care, but her back pack has already done its damage. Half the icing was lost to the baggie and her fingers and the candle snapped in half. Damian snickered as he watched Barbara struggle with the crappy Teen Titan’s lighter she bought from CVS. “Finally,” she exclaimed when the candle was lit.
“To keep this from getting awkward, I’m not gonna sing, but I still want to embarrass you, so SMILE!” Damian flinched away from the flash of her camera before shooting her a disgruntled frown. He never liked pictures that much, but even he couldn’t prevent a smile creeping on his face when he saw Barbara squealing over how cute the pictures are. “I can’t wait to show these to Kathy!” She said pulling off a chunk of cupcake.
“Show it to her and you die, Gordon,” Damian threatened. Barbara took another picture while giggling mischievously. “Sure,” she drawled. She put away the camera.
A short but comfortable silence settled in their usual booth at Red’s Diner. After eating a mix of the sugary cupcake and their evening pancakes, Barbara called for the bill. “I can’t believe it’s over already. I don’t want to leave you yet, Dami. Maybe we can have a sleepover!”
“I’ll pass, Barbie,” he said, in a mocking tone. Damian began to gather his stuff, to prepare to leave when he caught Barbara pouting on the opposite side of the booth. He sighed, knowing he would regret this. “I’m not saying okay to a sleepover, but we can hang out longer if you want.”
“Awesome! Let’s go,” Barbara practically yelled, slamming money on the table, and zooming past Damian. He figured that if he didn’t want to lose the crack filled five year old, he better quicken his pace. “Wait up!”
———
Damian cursed Barbara’s height for the fifth time tonight. He was still regrettably shorter than the girl meaning he was slower as well. “Jesus Christ Barbara, I told you to fuckin wait,” he wheezed, finally having caught up to Usain Bolt Jr.
“You’re just slow, Dami.”
“Whatever.” Barbara and Damian slowed to a walking pace comfortable for both of them, taking in the area’s surrounding. “Where do you want to go,” Damian asked. “We probably have maybe five more hours before I have to go.”
Barbara kept quiet, which was basically taking 180 degree turn, personality wise. “Barbara,” Damian called out, slightly more worried now.
“I think I’m gonna tell my dad, Damian. About me and Kate. I don’t want to keep sneaking around him.” Damian wasn’t necessarily surprised. He felt her reaching her limit for some time, but why now?
“Did something happen at school?”
“Just some jerks. Nothing big.”
“‘Kay. Let me know if you want them dead later, though.” Barbara laughed although Damian wasn’t really joking. “Kind gesture, but I don’t even care to give them the time of day. It’s not like they’re anyone important, but my dad... if anything I just want to get it off my chest.”
Damian gave a slight nod and hesitantly hugged his friend. “Good luck, Barbara.”
“Thanks, Damian.”
